Three weeks to collect dumped nappies causes a big stink

-

THIS bag of nappies was dumped on Schoolhouse Road in Rosbercon three weeks ago and despite repeated calls to Wexford County Council’s Environment department, the bag was not collected until Friday.

A local resident said he was infomred that there is nobody employed in the New Ross district who is tasked with collecting bags of rubbish dumped on our road sides.

‘I have now called Wexford County Council’s Environment section three times about this and have been assured it would be collected. On the third call on Wednesday this week I was assured I would get a call back about it “within an hour”. This hasn’t happened yet. I’m wondering why I would bother putting my waste in a bin and paying for its disposal when the county council appears to have no interest in the matter,’ the outraged resident said.

‘ That was bad enough but environment section told me they had nobody available at the time in Wexford to come an collect it. Apparently this is not the job of anyone in the New Ross district.

‘Guys here just collect from street bins. So I asked what would happen if illegal dumping happens next to a street bin and was told that this should be dealt with by someone from Wexford. I think that’s bizarre and a terrible waste of time and resources.’
