Pensioner banned from driving

A RETIRED man in his late eighties who drove home from his local pub failed to produce evidence that he was insured to be on the road.

John Wickham (89) from Ballywilliam was seen by Garda Philip McGrath at the wheel of a black Vauxhall Vectra at 11.26 p.m. on the night of November 11 last.

The accused pulled away from the Ash Tree pub and drove to his own property.

The court learned that Wickham resided with his wife of similar age and that he had now finished driving.

He was fined €300 and formally banned from holding a licence for two years.
