Pensioner had no motor insurance
OLD-AGE pensioner William Blake (76) of 22 Ashgrove Fethard-on-Sea lost his previously clean record but not his driving licence when he appeared at the District Court sitting in Wexford.
The retired fisherman, who lives alone, was intercepted on the road near to his home on December 10 last and admitted on the spot that he was not insured.
His vehicle was impounded at the scene.
Solicitor Ed King told Judge Bernadette Owens that his client, father of five, had been waiting eight years for a cataract operation.
He did not expect to be driving again and had no previous convictions.
The judge imposed a €250 fine.
