Fined for no current tax disc or L plate

Having no L plate and no current tax disc cost John Connors (36) of 45 Hewittsland, New Ross €600 by way of fines.

The accused was found at Ballinaboola in October driving a vehicle on which the tax appeared to have expired the previous March.

The holder of a learner permit, he had no L plate on view.

He was not represented at Wexford District Court as Judge Bernadette Owens heard that this was not the first time Connors had been prosecuted.

His 27 previous convictions included seven counts of failure to display L plates.

Each of the two summonses considered on this occasion attracted a fine of €300.
