KILMORE’SS ESSENCE – IN

THE UNIQUE attraction of Kilmore Quay was in the spotlight during a photography exhibition organised by Wexford Camera Club as part of the fishing village’s annual seafood festival.

The Camera Club has been collaborating with the festival for many years and the theme of this year’s show was ‘ The Essence of Kilmore Quay’ with prizes awarded to the best in a variety of categories.

The judge was Orla Barry, an award-winning Wexford-born artist and lecturer in art at the Wexford School of Art and Design at Carlow IT who has exhibited in the Irish Museum of Modern Art and performed at the Tate Modern in London.

Orla chose the winners from entries submitted by 32 Camera Club members who trained their lens on aspects of the picturesque fishing village of Kilmore Quay over the past t few months. The rule was that all the photographs had to have been taken in the parish of Kilmore.

Wexford Camera Club meets every second Monday night in Wexford Harbour Boat Club but is breaking for the rest of the summer. The e next meeting will be on Monday, September 3. New members are e welcome to go along to any meeting.

The club organises several ‘shoots’ every year, travelling to areas around County Wexford and beyond to take e photographs and and also hosts a number of annual exhibitions including a forthcoming event in Wexford Library in September in association with Culture Night on the theme of ‘ The Best of Wexford’ and a show during Wexford Festival Opera a in the Wexford Society of Friends Meeting House in High Street.
