Fantastic night of cabaret music for Cumas bus raises €4,000
A FANTASTIC cabaret night for the clients of Cumas in New Ross raised €4,000 for a new bus for the service’s users.
The cabaret night was organised by Marian Browne Tench and Eamonn Tench, drawing a crowd of hundreds of people to the Horse & Hound in Ballinaboola.
Featuring several local bands who generously donated their time, the crowd enjoyed music by the Cumas Trad Band who recently released their first CD, along with great music by Joe Bradley, Paddy Murphy, Seamus Power, Trilogy, Harry Doran, Frances & Friends and more.
Marian thanked the staff of the Horse & Hound, the musicians who performed so well and everyone who donated and supported the event, whether through buying door prize tickets or through generous donations.
‘It was a feast of music. We are thrilled with raising over €4,000 for the bus. It was a lot of hard work but it was worth it,’ Ms Browne Tench said.
The centre provides services for around 80 people with intellectual disabilities from the locality.
A preschool also operates the centre catering to the needs of children.
Cumas New Ross is open five days per week throughout the year and is committed to providing quality support to individuals with an intellectual disability through the under-pinning principle of “Individualisation Towards A Better Life”.
A bus service is required to transport service users to events with a fundraising campaign well under way.
