TWO well-known Wexford hotels have been shortlisted in a national culinary competition.

The Riverside Park Hotel, in Enniscorthy, and Whitford House Hotel, Wexford, have made it through to the final stages of the Knorr Great Carvery Competition 2018.

The competition is aimed at finding the best pub and hotel carveries in the country and the local nominees will be vying for national honour against some of the finest eateries in Ireland.

Through the competition the best pub and hotel carveries across Leinster compete for the Island of Ireland culinary title in their category.

Entries were received from all 12 counties in Leinster and the Wexford hotels will receive a visit from a team of mystery diners to determine who serves the best carvery in Leinster and the winners will go on to compete for the overall national honours.

Speaking about the competition, Jim Reeves, Customer Director at Unilever Food Solutions, said: ‘At Unilever Food Solutions, we believe that establishments should be applauded for striving to achieve excellent customer service, quality of ingredients and attention to detail.’

Mr Reeves also said the competition provides a national shop window for the businesses involved.

The provincial winners will be announced on September 10 with the national winners being announced on September 21.
