PHIL MURPHY WEEKEND

Phil Murphy weekend the official opening of the Phil Murphy weekend and launch of this year’s Our Parish Journal will take place Thursday, July 26, at 8 p.m. Music cheese and wine reception. €5 Friday the 27th concert in marquee with Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh, Séamus Begley, Donogh Hennessy and Dan Brouder with Angelina Carberry, followed by the Tin Sandwich Band. €20. Saturday the 28th 11 a.m. workshops in the school, 2 p.m. singing gathering in the school. €5 Concert in the marquee at 8 p.m. with Lunasa, Fergal and Diarmuid Murphy and the Danescastl­e music group. Sunday the 29th 1.30 music in the marquee with Two Tine Polka, Green Road and Robin James Hurt. €5. 3 p.m. Ceile in the community center with music by Ger Murphy and Ken Cotter. €10 8 p.m. in the marquee Luka Bloom, The David Minnelli Trio, Anna Falkenau, Glen Foley and Steve Sweeney. €20.

COFFEE MORNING

Coffee morning in aid of Bannow Community First Responders Saturday, August 4, from 10 to 2 in Carrig Community Centre. Your presence would be very welcome for this very worthy cause in our area. CPR demonstrat­ions, bouncy castle and just a good ould chat over a cuppa. All are very welcome.

SOCIAL DANCING

Dancing continues in Tír na nÓg every Thursday night with music this Thursday, July 26, Pat Daly from Cork. All welcome proceeds in aid of new handball building fund. All welcome, refreshmen­ts served.

GAA CLUB

Jackpot for this evening s draw will be €6,500. Tickets are only two euro each and can be purchased from post office Carrig, Seabreeze Dry Cleaners, Tír na nÓg and from any club officer down in the complex.

Thanks to everyone who contribute­d and supported out golf classic on Friday. This fundraiser will go towards the running of our club.

More than 150 children participat­ed in the Cúl Camps. Many thanks to all our volunteers who helped out during the week.

Well done to Ann Rossiter and to Peter O’Brien, who were involved in the under-14 Ladies’ Football blitz in Carlow.

The pitches were busy during the week with matches from all age groups. The under-17 hurling team took a win over Ballyhogue, under-12 camogie beat Blackwater, under-14 camogie took on Buffers Alley and took the points. The under-13 boys’ hurling squad played Davidstown in a thriller of a match only to lose by a meet point.

The junior ladies’ football take on St James in their championsh­ip match this Wednesday evening good luck to all involved.

Volunteers, who are willing to drive clients to doctors and hospital appointmen­ts in our car. Volunteers to assist the clients in the daycare centre to ensure they are enjoying their day out.
