GOLF SOCIETY

Former members of the now defunct St Fintan’s golf society are now planning a get together to relive memories of the past with a game of golf, a bite to eat and a few ‘jars’. CLUB LOTTO

It is now easier than ever to play our weekly club lotto and never miss a draw by signing up to a 10-week subscripti­on for €15. Subscripti­on forms are available at most training sessions or contact Sharon at 086 1787498 to sign up. Club lotto provides vital finances for the club which allow us to continue to maintain and develop clubground facilities and your support of the lotto is very much appreciate­d.

The jackpot now stands at €13,200 and there is also a match-three prize of €200 up for grabs each week since there was no match-three winner last week the match-three prize for the coming week will be €600. The numbers drawn last week were 23, 24, 33 and 34. Many thanks for your continued support.

KILLINICK PROJECT AGM

The Killinick Project annual general meeting will be held on Monday, August 16, at 8 p.m. in the Merry Elf Killinick. The agenda is to provide a forum to get suggestion­s to improve the village. All welcome to attend.

The annual patrons of the parish will be held in Ballymore on Thursday, August 9, at 7.30 p.m. and in Mayglass on Friday, August 10, at 7.30 p.m.

ALL BLACKS AFC

The All Blacks will hold their annual general meeting at the clubhouse Casey Park on Wednesday, August 8, at 8 p.m. All members are welcome to attend.

IWA SHOP VOLUNTEERS

The Irish Wheelchair Associatio­n are opening a new shop in Wexford town and we are looking for volunteers. If you would like to join our team we would love to hear from you. KILMORE AC

Well done to those to took part in the brilliantl­y organised as ever United Striders AC 5-mile stride on Saturday evening in Terrerath. Michael O’Flaherty is in good form at the moment and he was 20th home in a time of 31: 01. Jackie Carthy was 22nd home and also the first woman to cross the line in an impressive time of 31: 21. Nicky Foley, who is just returning from injury was 47th to finish running a solid time of 35: 34. Suzanne Foley is progressin­g very nicely something noted by everyone and was 105th running a very strong 43: 16. All in all a fantastica­lly run event by all at USAC.

‘Meet and train’ continues on the Burrow (Sofrimar End) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Caters for beginners to experience­d runners. Only a light easy run on Wednesday. Walkers are welcome with the aim of starting out running.

Juvenile training resumes on August 9 at 6.30 p.m. in Kilmore GAA Grounds.

CAMOGIE CLUB NEWS

Kilmore camogie club would like to thank Sports Active Wexford through Wexford County Council for including the club in their 2018 grant scheme. The club and its members appreciate the assistance and support from Sports Active.

CLOSURE OF POST OFFICE

As of Wednesday, August 15, the post office in Kilmore Quay will no longer be trading for business. All business from this post office will be transferre­d to Kilmore post office. Geraldine Evans would like to thank all most sincerely for their support and custom over the years.

INFORMATIO­N OFFICE

The Informatio­n office in Bridgetown is now open three days a week due to our staffing issues being addressed thanks to WLD and our new Tuas office assistant. New opening times now are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

We welcome Margaret to our office and we also welcome Philly as caretaker who was also appointed recently again thanks to WLD and the Tuas program. We also appreciate the great work done by Ray as caretaker over the past 12 months and thank him most sincerely for his dedication to the ‘cause’.

KATHLEEN BROWNE FESTIVAL

The Kathleen Browne festival committee in Bridgetown are hard at work putting the final pieces together for the two-day festival in Bridgetown on September 14 and 15.

Among the events taking place will be arts, Literature, music, theatre, poetry, children’s events, crafts, historical talks, creative writing workshops, antiques, books, street stalls (still room for additional stall bookings) and much, much more. Venues for the events will be at the AOH hall, premises in Doyle’s in the village centre, two marquees and a stage in the ‘Orchard’.

Other events will be a parade to the village, the unveiling of the plaque to commemorat­e the birthplace of Senator Kathleen Browne by her nephew Prof. Ivor Browne. This is just a flavour of the activity; we will publish further informatio­n in the weeks ahead, but watch our website (kathleenbr­ownefestiv­al.net) and the Facebook page (Kathleen Browne Festival) for further informatio­n.
