THREE CHEERS FOR SAOIRSE!

-

Wexford Rose Saoirse Walsh was the toast of Arthurstown at a farewell party held in her honour before she headed off to the Rose of Tralee festival.

A huge crowd travelled to the King’s Bay Inn in Arthurstown to give Wexford Rose Saoirse Walsh a fantastic send off on Saturday night.

Campile native Saoirse has been representing County Wexford with pride at numerous events and iconic buildings around the county over recent weeks. She was joined on Saturday by her escorts Aidan McCabe from Adamstown and Kilmuckridge man John Somers. Everyone enjoyed music, Wexford treats and drinks on a Wexford themed night.

She was interviewed live on TV3 during Ladies Day at the Galway Races recently and thanked her sponsors, including Dermot Kehoe’s, milliner Berr Upton and Liz Collins boutique. Saoirse has participated in two runs, the United Strides 5 Mile event and the Kilmore 5 for the Dive. She is running the Dublin City Marathon with her sister Dearbhla this October, having already run it last year for MS Ireland. Looking back on the summer so far, she said: ‘It’s just been incredible. The people of New Ross especially have been so supportive and generous. I want to thank the shops and boutiques for getting in touch.’

Several local businesses including Bridget’s Sweet Boutique, Dunphy’s and Furlong’s sponsored her farewell party night which raised €650 for MS Ireland’s Wexford branch through the raffle and donations. ‘Dunphy’s have a huge billboard with my face on it in Campile. It’s all been very exciting and so positive. It’s been great updating my Facebook page and seeing all the different groups around Wexford.’
