Discover an uncharted world of science fiction and fantasy events during a thrilling weekend at the National Opera House. Ireland’s newest convention will have plenty for fans of comic books, video games, art, film, entertainm­ent and discovery.

KARMA YOGA IN REDMOND PARK

Sadhana Yoga will hold two free classes in Redmond Park from 11 a.m. to midday (Hatha Vintasa Yoga) and from 12.20 p.m. to 1 p.m. (Mindful Meditation). No experience necessary, you can bring friends and family. Bring a mat, towel or blanket also.

BUNCLODY HORTICULTU­RAL SHOW

The annual Bunclody Horticultu­ral Show takes over Bunclody Vocational College with all things garden related from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Organisers and promising a great day out for all the family with plenty to see and do.

TAGOAT VINTAGE RALLY

Tagoat Vintage Rally will take place on Saturday, August 18, from midday There will be a wide variety of attraction­s in site including music, food, dog shows, vintage threshing, kids’ corner, fun fair, vintage tractors, cars and motorbikes and trade stalls. Everyone in the community is encourage to go along and join in the fun on the day.

BYGONE DAYS AT HOLLYFORT VILLAGE.

Bygone Days at Hollyfort Village will being at 5.30 p.m. Dress up in 1950s clothes, while enjoying traditiona­l threshing, a dog show and a fantastic raffle. Prizes include €200 worth of home heating oil and cash prizes. €3 to enter a dog.

WRECKLESS INDOOR SKATEPARK OPEN DAY.

Wreckless Indoor Skatepark, situated at Unit 33, Gorey Business Park in Ramstown, are hosting an open day for all ages from 11 a.m. Entrance to the park for the day will be free of charge. There will be demonstrat­ions in skateboard­ing, scootering, BMX, RC cars along with arts and crafts and music. Wreckless intends to start after school clubs this September and this will be a great opportunit­y for parents to see what they have to offer. Delicious food will be served by Barbecue Cowboys.

FUN DAY IN MONAGEERBO­OLAVOGUE GAA

Monageer-Boolavogue GAA and camogie clubs are folding a family fun day from 3.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. – Super day for all the family which includes short matches for our teams from under-six to under-13, obstacle course, kids corner, shooting practice, tug of war, face painting, parents/coaches matches, hang tough competitio­ns, barbecue, tea, coffee, buns shop – Lots of fun for young and old.

TRI THE HOOK SPRINT TRIATHLON IN FETHARD.

Fethard-on-Sea will play host to the eighth consecutiv­e Tri the Hook Sprint Triathlon. The race kicks off at 10 a.m. with a 750m swim at Baginbun beach, followed by a 22km cycle and finishing with a 5km run to St Mogue’s GAA Clubhouse. More than 250 competitor­s are expected to take part this year including members of some of the country’s top triathlon clubs. BREAKFAST IN OULART COMMUNITY CENTRE.

Oulart-The Ballagh GAA will be serving a full Irish breakfast in Oulart Community Centre, from 8 a.m. onwards. With three adult hurling teams and numerous underage teams still involved in the championsh­ips this is another opportunit­y for parishione­rs to support the club while enjoying a sumptuous breakfast in the company of like-minded people. A contributi­on of €10 per adult and five euro per child will get you a tasty, hassle-free breakfast.

HERITAGE WEEK WALK AT UNYOKE

The sixth annual Unyoke Walk for National Heritage Week will begin at 10 a.m., from the Trading Post, on the R741 and proceed through historic and varied countrysid­e along the old Dublin-Wexford Coach Road to ascend Oulart Hill (179 m) with its vast panoramas and many monuments including the 1798 Battlefiel­d and Tulach a’tSolais. This is not a guided tour with stops, but several guides will be on hand if required. Walkers will be transporte­d back to the Trading Post after the Walk. It takes about 2.5 hours to complete this walk of approximat­ely seven miles.

WEXFORD WALLED TOWN MEDIEVAL DAY.

Wexford County Council and Wexford Borough Councils will be hosting a Walled Town Medieval Day event on the green area behind the Westgate Tower-Heritage Centre from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

FREE TOURS AT HOOK LIGHTHOUSE

There will be free tours of Hook Lighthouse from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. from August 18 to August 26. The tours are being organised to coincide with National Heritage Week.

SHARING THE KILMOKEA STORY

Kilmokea Country Manor and Gardens will provide the venue for a celebratio­n of European Year of Cultural Heritage on Saturday, August 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will see the venue utilise its new digital story boards to bring the interestin­g story of local history to life.
