GAA CLUB NEWS

Lotto numbers were 12, 19, 21 and 30. No jackpot winners but we had two match-three winners congratula­tions to Breda O’Sullivan Carrig and Mark Doyle Kildare.

Grantstown was a busy spot over the week with games starting at 6 p.m. over in the grounds. Our under-seven s football squad played their rivals St Anne’s on Tuesday last. The two teams were out and they drew their games gracefully under the watchful eye of their trainers.

The under-10 camogie girls took on Gusserane the same night. Great hurling skills in this game. Well done to the girls and their mentors.

Over in the other pitch the under-13 boys’ football team took on Glynn-Barntown in a physical entertaini­ng match. A tough encounter at times but our boys were the worthy winners on the night. semi-final time now lads. Well done to all involved.

Our under-17 hurling team travelled to New Ross to play Geraldine O’Hannarans and came away with the points.

The under-16 camogie girls had a three point win over Marshelsto­wn in an away game on Tuesday.

The Junior Hurlers lost by three points to Horeswood in Clongeen.

The Intermedia­te Footballer­s played St Anne’s on the Bank Holiday Sunday down in Rathangan in the Sammy Sinnott Cup final. A tough fight to the end seen us win the match by two points. A light celebratio­n down in Sammys after the game took place. We would like to wish Sammy a speedy recovery. All photograph­s on our Facebook page.

FUNDRAISIN­G DAY

A special fundraisin­g coffee day will be held on Sunday, August 19, from 11 a.m. till 5 p.m. at Peadar and Verna Goff’s, Forge House, Harristown, Ballymitty in memory of their son Edward. All money raised will be donated to the NICU in Holles St and the Special Care Baby Unit in Wexford. As well as tea and coffee there will be a variety of plants and lovely home baking for sale, a raffle with lots of prizes, face painting and fun for the kids. Hope you can make it.

RING FOUND

A ladies ring was found in the Carrig-on-Bannow area recently call to shop or the PO if you have lost one. 12, 19, 21 and 30. St James’ Club had two match-three winners; Niamh O’Leary, Mersheen and Ollie Nolan, Ramsgrange, who won €35 each. The jackpot for the next lotto draw on August 21, will be €7,100. Lotto tickets are available from committee members and local shops and pubs.

ACTIVE RETIREMENT

Next meeting is on Monday, September 3, in St Louis Day Care Centre, starting at 2.15 p.m. Come along for a chat with new and old friends over a cup of tea and a bun. New members always welcome.

SUPERVISED STUDY GROUP

The parents supervised study group for Secondary School students will recommence in Duncannon National School in September for the 2018-2019 school year from 6 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. each evening. There was no jackpot winner last week in the Tintern lotto when the numbers drawn were 5, 8, 9 and 10. The match-three winners were Patty Power from Fethard, Garrett Finn from Kinnagh, Eileen Walsh from Coolseskin and Joy Whelan from Ballyculla­ne. This week’s jackpot stands at €2,300.

CARDS

Winners in the hall last week were Alice Gaffney, Jamie Granger and Margaret O’Neill. Second went to John Sinnott, Larry Larkin and Kathleen Cadogan. Third were Kieran Keating, Jimmy Haughton and Willie White while the LGD went to Nick Doyle, Mick Reville and Willie Kehoe. Raffle winners were Siobhán Doyle, Tom Corcoran, Johnny Colfer and Jimmy Haughton. Prayers were said for Eileen Sinnott of Terrerath, who passed away the previous weekend. Eileen was a popular card player in Gusserane for many years.

STUDY GROUP

Campile Hall now taking names for our 2018/2019 parents supervised study group, this is our fourth year running this group which from the feedback we have received has been a great success and proven very beneficial to all our students so far, we will start back again in September on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for third, fifth and sixth year students at a cost of €20 monthly.
