Indian may trump rival GREYHOUND RACING

THE NIAMH Moriarty and Co. Solicitors Unraced final will be the feature event this week at Enniscorthy greyhound track, with a €3,000 first prize.

The fast-starting Express Zodiac will be many followers’ idea of the winner for George Roche of Barntown, although there will be a doubt as George’s dogs were withdrawn on Thursday night.

Indian Trump, owned by Declan Kelly and Patrick Whelan of Enniscorthy, is well drawn and can take advantage.

On Thursday night some fast times were recorded in the second round of the George’s Hair Fashions grand prize, with the Owen Doyle-trained Droopys Missy going quickest in heat four when recording her second win from five starts in a good 28.77.

The semi-finals will be featured on this week’s card and we can expect some very competitive races.

The Texacloth Juvenile derby is under way up at Newbridge track and on Friday night the John Codd and Diana Brodie (Enniscorthy) owned and trained Cushie Jet put up a superb display to win his second round heat in a new track record time of 28.21, a record that has stood for nine years.

Cushie was hot favourite for the Red Mills Unraced at Kilkenny after some super runs but was unlucky in the final, and he has came back with a bang now and is staking his claims on this very prestigious event.
