1 RYAN O’SHAUGHNESS­Y: Having restored some of Ireland’s pride in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, singer/songwriter Ryan O’Shaughness­y is not resting on his laurels as he hits the road around the country as part of a tour for his new single ‘Civil War’. The song was co-written at a writing camp in Toronto by Ava Kay, Tino Zolfo and Ryan and it aims to spread the message that in the current global wartime crisis no mater the scale of the battle every war effects us in a similar way, and only by choosing to resolve can we defeat conflict. The former Fair City and Britain’s Got Talent star will perform at Enniscorth­y’s Presentati­on Centre on Saturday night as part of the nationwide tour and is looking forward to experienci­ng the warmth of a Wexford audience first-hand. An engaging entertaine­r, the show promises to be a good one and tickets are priced at €15/€12 from www.presentati­oncentre.ie. The show gets underway at 8.30 p.m. sharp and this will be the very first show in what Ryan is hoping will be a successful tour. 2 KATHLEEN BROWNE FESTIVAL: The first Kathleen Browne Arts and Literary Festival will take place in Bridgetown on Friday and Saturday, September 14 and 15, honouring an extraordin­ary local woman who was a politician, farmer, writer, artist, historian and early environmen­talist. Kathleen’s nephew Dr. Ivor Browne, the wellknown psychiatri­st, will give a talk in the local AOH Hall at 6 pm on Friday and will unveil a commemmora­tive plaque at 11am at her birthplace on Saturday morning. The festival contributo­rs will include historians, novelists, poets and artists. Two books will be launched including a new biography of Kathleen’s life by local historian Brendan Wright. 3 COMHAIRLE GOES COLOURFUL: Wexford Comhairle na nÓg is hosting a 5k Colour Run at Wexford Racecourse on Sunday, September 16 at noon. Comhairle members selected positive mental health as a topic to focus on, organising the run as an awareness raiser. The event is an opportunit­y to highlight mental health services available to young people in County Wexford. Representa­tives from various agencies will be present. 4 OULART WALKING CLUB CHARITY CONCERT: Oulart Hill Walking Club and Bygone Days Story House are to host a fantastic fundraisin­g concert in The Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorth­y, this Sunday night, September 16. The concert is to raise funds towards signage and stones for the Oulart walks. Music, song, stories and craic are promised. Tickets are €10 and there will also be door prizes on the night. All support is greatly appreciate­d. 5 CHARITY TEA PARTY: A tea party in memory of a baby boy who died aged only two hours old is being held to raise money for Féileacáin, (the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Associatio­n of Ireland – SANDAI). Alfie Dunne died two hours after he was born in the National Maternity Hospital, Holles Street, at 34 weeks, four days, on May 22. A fantastic fundraiser is being held in the community centre in Terrerath on Sunday, September 16, from 2 p.m. till 6 p.m. in his name. There will be copious amounts of tea, coffee and delicious – kindly donated cakes. 6 ANTIQUE AND COUNTY FAIR: This weekend, Wells House and Gardens in Ballyedmon­d, Gorey will hold an Antique and County Fair, on Saturday, September 15, and on Sunday, September 16, from 1 p.m., until 5 p.m. Hosted by Chantal Fortune, Wells House and Gardens welcomes back the ever-so-popular Antique Fair, but this year with a slight twist. For 2018, Wells House will welcome the first of their County Fairs which will run along side Chantal’s beautiful showcase of Antiques. Entry is €10 per car. All crafts and antique dealers welcome to apply. For more informatio­n, contact info@wellshouse.ie. 7 AUTUMN RECITAL: Music for Wexford’s autumn recital will take place on Sunday, September 16 in St. Iberius Church at 3.30pm. The guest performer is the South Korean-born pianist Young-Choon Park who will perform works by Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn and Schubert. Young-Choon began studying piano at the age of four and gave her first full recital when she was seven. She studied at the Julliard School in New York and later gained the highest masters degree at the Hochschule in Munich. She has toured extensivel­y and taken part in many internatio­nal festivals with leading orchestras in Europe. Tickets in advance from the National Opera House or at the door prior to the concert.
