TRACTOR RUN

St Kearns rowing club in conjunctio­n with Saltmills/St Kearns Community Group are having a monster tractor/vintage vehicle run on Sunday, September 30. Registrati­on at Vine Cottage Bar in Saltmills at 10 a.m. It will commence at 11 a.m. The cost is €20 per vehicle. This Run will take in the beautiful Hook peninsula with a stop at Templars Inn and return to Saltmills for refreshmen­ts at Colclough Hall and Vine Cottage Bar.

SYMPATHY

Sincere condolence­s to the Breen family of Rathimney on the death last week of Mamie Breen. Mamie passed away at an advanced age. She was predecease­d a number of years ago by her husband, Andy. A huge crowd attended her funeral in Gusserane last Tuesday.

HOLY HOUR

The weekly Adoration of the Eucharist continues each Wednesday at St John the Baptist Church in Gusserane. All are welcome to come and spend an hour in the church throughout the day from 9.30 a.m. onwards. If you would like to attend or would like more informatio­n, please contact Fr Seán Laffan or any member of the parish council.

CARDS

Winners in the hall last week were Pat Whelan, James McDonald and Dave Murphy. Second went to Larry Larkin, Jimmy Larkin and Joe Ryan. Third were Marie Doyle, Declan Egan and Johnny Colfer while the LGD went to Nick Doyle, Mick Reville and Willie Kehoe. Raffle winners were Declan Egan, Kieran Keating, Johnny Colfer and Larry Larkin.

SILVER CIRCLE

Winners in the first draw of the Gusserane GAA Silver Circle draws were Anne Marie Kelleher, James Stafford, Martina Wall and Ann Marie Kelleher again. Winners in the second draw were Thomas and Seán Kinsella, Mick Barron jnr, Sam Wall and Una Cullen. Many thanks to all who supported the draw. Draws will continue over the next eight weeks.

DISCO

There will be a teenage disco in Campile Hall on this coming Friday night, September 28, for all secondary school students from nine to 12. The doors will open 8 p.m. Strictly no alcohol or drugs allowed. This is a fully supervised event.
