GAA CLUB NOTES

Our under-nine boys had their last training session of their season. Many thanks to Mick Scallon and Micheál O’Sullivan for their great mentor skill throughout the year.

The under-12 camogie team won their game over Castletown in Grantstown last week.

The under-15 boys’ football squad took themselves into the Sheil semi-final after their match against St Pat’s on Sunday morning last.

Our Intermedia­te Football team play the most important match of the season when they take on Adamstown in the game that will see them stay up or go down to another group. This Sunday at 11.30 a.m. in New Ross please give these lads your support. Best of luck to all the squad and their mentors David Currid, Gary Murphy, Get Luby and John O’Sullivan.

Our under-17 hurling and football are still in action so keep an eye on our Facebook page and Twitter account for all matches.

PENNY BANK TO CLOSE

Unfortunat­ely due to central bank regulation­s we are unable to continue the Penny Bank and it will be finishing on week 39. All books need to be returned at the end of this week to Nicola at the PO.

VARIETY CONCERT

ST MOGUE’S LADIES’ CLUB

The under-16 Camoige team took on Ballygarre­t last Sunday in their county semi-final. A slow start for the girls left them seven points behind at the break. The gave it their all and played their hearts out in the second half and reduced the lead to two points. But unfortunat­ely time ran out before they could get an equaliser. Well done to all involved for getting to the semi-final.

FETHARD RANGERS

Fethard Rangers soccer club would like to thank everyone that supported their Last Man Standing competitio­n that is ongoing at the moment. The club will be holding a Footee Golf competitio­n on Saturday, October 13, at Abbey Par three golf course in Winningtow­n. Everyone is encouraged to participat­e, men, women, boys and girls of all ages. It’s €10 per entry and there will be prizes for various things Inc first place, hole in one etc. Anyone that wishes to enter just contact anyone involved in the soccer club.

VEHICLE ROAD RUN

The Ring of Hook All Vehicle Road Run takes place on Sunday, September 30. Registrati­on, Vine Cottage Bar, Saltmills. Cost €20. Stopover for food at Templars Inn and refreshmen­ts in Saltmills on return. Open to classic cars, tractors, old and new etc. Hosted by St Kearns Rowing Club with Saltmills St Kearns Community Group.

St Mogue’s Ladies’ Club first rounders match was a great success, great fun had by everyone and no better way to end than with a draw. We had some first time ladies who played brilliantl­y. WEEKLY LOTTO

There was no winner of last week’s Club lotto jackpot of €7,000 so next week’s jackpot stands at €7,100. The numbers drawn were 9, 12, 13 and 24. The club had one lucky-dip winners, Laurence Waters, who won €30 each.

PROGRESSIV­E 45

The winners of the Progressiv­e 45 Card Game in Colclough Hall, Saltmills last Sunday were James McDonald, Aidan Colfer and John Reville. In second place were Eileen Doyle, Johnnie Doyle and Dick Power. In third place were Maureen Eustace, Joan Fardy and Pat Whelan. The last game draw was won by Jack Waters, Luke Power and Michael Kehoe. Raffle winners were Sonny Cahill, Tony Murphy, David Murphy and James McDonald.

Congratula­tions to Lauren Earle, Enniscorth­y, who was Saltmills and St Kearns Community Groups split-the-pot winner of €180 for August. SENIOR CITIZENS OPEN DAY

Senior citizens Concern CLG are hosting an open day on Wednesday, October 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will have representa­tives and informatio­n on the services provided here at St Louis Day Care Centre and on community based services within the area. Come in and join us for a chat and a cup of tea.

NEW DRAMA GROUP IN CAMPILE

It is time for Campile district to have its own drama group. We are holding an initial meeting for anyone interested in getting involved in, acting, writing, directing etc. also, make-up wardrobe, set design and constructi­on, to come along to Campile Parochial Hall on Wednesday, October 10, at 8 p.m. to talk about helping to get our own Drama Group up and running. ABBEY LADIES GOLF

On 15th September, 25 golfers from Abbey Ladies Golf Society played The Burrow Golf Links,12 hole course, Rosslare, for the final golf competitio­n for this summer season. Everyone wished for a pleasant day and that we got with glorious golf weather and good company. Good scores were returned and the prize winners were as follows:

There was only one Birdie on the day, won by Martina Reidy who got 25 euro Birdie Pot. That was a big comparison from Captain’s Day where 5 Birdies were won. They were Esther Finn, Florence Weber, Mary Fogarty, Grace O’Mahoney and Sheila Chapman, who shared a nice €50 Birdie Pot. Well done ladies and congratula­tions to all winners.

We will have a social inter society golf day on October 6 at 10.30 in The Abbey Par 3. Looking forward to seeing you there.
