Exciting racing on cards at Enniscorthy track GREYHOUND RACING

THERE IS some cracking racing coming up over the next few weeks at Enniscorthy Greyhound Track as the Enniscorthy Leger is due to start on Thursday night.

Then on Monday night comes the big one, the start of the Red Mills Future Champion Unraced Stake.

Given all of the previous champions to come out of this stake, a big attendance is expected in anticipation of seeing another new star or stars to emerge.

The Dublin Coach Juvenile Derby quarter-finals were run at Shelbourne Park on Friday, and while Cushie Jet was eliminated the week before, the Enniscorthy interest now lies with Michael Kehoe’s Liberty Gale (Laughil Blake/ Loher Baby).

Liberty made the most of an ideal draw in trap one in the opening heat to lead around the turn in what turned out to be a messy contest. The Patrick Roban-trained greyhound eased off the fence but they continued to battle for the lead into the turn.

At this point something had to give, and Liberty Gale forced her way into the clear, holding on by a half length in 28.78.

The victor will now line up in the semi-final this week going from the tricky trap five draw and will need a fast break.
