Scallan’s offer a taster after major deal with Meehan Group
HAVING recently become part of one of the country’s largest independent food and catering suppliers distributors ‘ The Meehan Family Food Group’, Scallan’s Food Service hosted a special event in The Riverside Park Hotel recently to showcase its vast product range to current and potential customers.
‘A Taste of Scallan’s’ also provided suppliers the opportunity to promote their products, highlight new offerings and demonstrate serving suggestions. The Wexford based, family-run company has been operating for the past forty years and provides anything from fresh, chilled and frozen foods, to alcohol, disposables and cleaning supplies and following their new deal with the Meehan group, they are hoping to expand on their already strong presence across the South East.
‘We have always been committed to doing business in the South East region and working within ‘ The Meehan Family Food Group’ means that our company will future proof itself in a competitive market space,’ Managing Director Gillian Moody said. ‘ This move will see us offer a broader product range at competitive price points to our customers. Now part of Ireland’s fastest growing food distribution companies, we carry over 7,000 lines of food, drink and packaging products into hotels, restaurants, takeaways, corporate and public sector bodies.’
Richard Meehan of the Meehan Group, who was in attendance at the event, outlined his intention to invest heavily in the Wexford operation. ‘Scallan’s is a natural fit for our growing family of independent food service businesses,’ he said.
‘We value the fact that the business is a family built one and the Scallan family will remain integral to its operations as we move forward. We see huge potential for this company to continue expanding within the South East region and Wexford as a location for doing business lends itself well to these ambitions.
