The annual St Kearns Commemorat­ion takes place at the monument in St Kearns on Sunday, October 14, at 4 p.m. This commemorat­ion is held each year in remembranc­e of those that were killed and injured when making bombs during the War of Independen­ce, nearly 100 year’s ago. Silver Circle

Winners in last week’s Silver Circle draw were PJ Cullen, Lorraine O’Neill, Amy Stafford and Norman Fitzharris. All proceeds go towards Gusserane GAA.

CARDS

Winners in the hall last week were Dick Fitzgerald, Billy Shannon and Liam Cooley. Second went to Pat Ryan, Tom Corcoran and Owen O’Connor. Third were David Murphy, James McDonald and Pat Whelan while fourth went to Nick Doyle, Mick Reville and Willie Kehoe. The last game draw went to Tom Lacey, Andrew Doyle and Brendan Browne. Raffle winners were Brendan Colfer, Kieran Keating, Andrew Doyle, Kathleen Cadogan and Margaret O’Neill.

Proceeds were in aid of Gusserane Tidy Towns and the organisers would like to thank all those who supported the night. It was a massive community effort and will greatly contribute towards the continuing betterment of the locality.

TINTERN RUN

Gusserane Coiste na nÓg are hosting their popular Tintern Trails Run/Walk this coming Sunday on the grounds of Tintern Abbey. It starts at 11 a.m. but you will need to get there a little earlier if you still have to register. With a choice of 8k and 5k routes, this event is hugely popular with walkers and runners of varying ability. Please follow the signs for parking. Register online at active.com.
