FIRST RESPONDERS

Thank you to our community and to everyone who donated, sponsored and came to our fundraiser coffee morning in August and to Carrig Castles. It was a great success and thanks to you, we made over €1,700 for defibulatu­lar boxes, batteries, pads, training etc.

DANCING

Social dancing continues in Tír na nÓg every Thursday night with music this Thursday, October 11, by Michelle and Tom Murphy, October 18 Brendan Lee, October 25 No dance Saturday, October 27, music by Joe Kennedy Kildare, and November 1 Art Supple. All funds raised are for the handball new build. Refreshmen­ts served all welcome.

GAA CLUB NEWS

Well done to our Intermedia­te Football team who had a great win over Adamstown in their Relugation Final. This secures them in the intermedia­te group for another year. Final score B/b 1-10 A/T seven points. Many thanks to David, Gary, Ger and John for their mentor skills throughout the year.

Congratula­tions to our underfootb­all squad who won their match over Marshalsto­wn in their Shield Final Match.

The under-17 boys’ Football lads are out this Wednesday in St Patrick’s Park when they take on Kilross best of luck to all.

SAD PASSING

Deepest sympathy to the Goff family on the death of Kitty Goff née Chapman. Wife of the late Eamon, and loving mother of Kay, Alice, Carmel, Peter, Margaret and the late Mary Therese. Sadly missed by her loving family, sonsin-law, daughter-in-law, grandchild­ren, relatives and friends. She reposed at her residence on Tuesday, October 2, from midday, with removal at 7 p.m., to St Peter’s Church, Ballymitty. Funeral Mass was on Wednesday, at 11 a.m., burial afterwards, in the adjoining cemetery. May she rest in peace.

DEATH

The death also occurred of Frank Arrigan a former Garda here in Carrig-on-Bannow last Wednesday in Enniscorth­y.

Deepest sympathy to his wife Mary sons Conor and Niall and daughter Miriam. Removal was on Friday to St Aidan’s Cathedral for Funeral Mass at 10 o’c. Burial afterwards in Enniscorth­y Cemetery.

The community alert meeting and AGM will be held on Carrig hall on Monday, October 22, at 8 p.m.

COMMUNITY LOTTO

There was no winner of last week’s jackpot of €14,800. The winning numbers were 5, 16, 26 and 32. There were two matchthree winners who received €100 each. The winners were Milly Doyle and Mai Roche. The next lotto draw will be held on Tuesday, October 9, and the jackpot now stands at €15,000.

YOGA CLASSES

SUNNY SOUTH EAST STROLLERS

We meet at Rathangan Hall at 7 p.m. on Mondays (except Bank Holidays or if it is raining). Come along and try out for our fourweek programme in October. We do warm up exercises followed by a 30 to 35 minutes stroll of the walkway (which has a section under lights). A cup of tea or coffee and most importantl­y a chat afterwards. Bring along a torch and wrap up warmly. It’s a great way to kick-start you fitness. SENIOR CITIZENS HOUSING AGM

The annual general meeting of Rathangan senior citizens Housing Associatio­n CLG will take place in the playschool at Rathangan Hall on Friday, October 26, at 8 p.m. Every resident of the parish qualifies as a member and is entitled to attend and vote. All welcome so please come along. Please note venue as presidenti­al election voting booths is in main hall.

TABLE QUIZ

Duncormick Area Action Group and Tidy Towns Committee will hold a table quiz in Sinnott’s Pub on Friday, November 2, at 9 p.m. Tables €20. Refreshmen­ts served. Proceeds in aid of river walk developmen­t.
