North End close the gap

Champions North End United closed the gap on leaders Shamrock Rovers thanks to a 2-0 away win on Sunday.

Kyle Dempsey and Adam Beary got the goals for the Sky Blues as they saw off the stubborn challenge of Rosslare Rangers.

Wexford Bohs got their first win on the board in thrilling fashion as they overcame Courtown Hibs 6-3 in a goal-fest.

Jack Murphy and Todd Hynes both bagged doubles for the winners, with Seán Pailing and Dion Murphy adding a goal apiece and Jamie Heffernan, Scott Fitzpatrick and Matty Kavanagh replying for Hibs.

Bridge Rovers finally got off the mark at the sixth time of asking, with a Kevin Byrne goal earning them a precious 1-0 win over Bunclody. 3-1 win over Moyne Rangers.

The attacker netted the perfect hat-trick, one with his right foot, one with his left and the other with his head, while Timmy Dwyer replied for Moyne.

St. Cormac’s moved into second spot with a 5-2 win over Gorey Celtic, with Mick Sweeney, Jamie Dempsey-Doyle (two), Glenn McEvoy and Brendan Burke scoring for the winners.

Dermot Rossiter and Jake Byrne got the goals for New Ross Town in their 2-0 win over North End United.

Division 2 leaders Glynn Barntown stormed to another victory on Sunday as they proved much too good for Shelburne.

The pacesetters ran out 4-0 winners, thanks to a Nigel Usher double and goals from David Keane and Shane Wilde.

Second-placed Adamstown kept the pressure on with a hardfought 2-1 win over Taghmon United.

Colin Purcell and Brandon Sinnott hit the back of the net for the winners, with Seamie McLoughlin replying for Taghmon.

Ferns United are also very much in the shake-up and they picked up another three points with a 3-1 win away to Enniscorthy United, thanks to goals from Jonny Dwyer, Keith Breen and Frank Devereux. Conor Heffernan replied for the Enniscorthy men.

Rosslare Port really turned on the style with a 7-1 win in Cushinstown. Harry Corish, Mark Corish, Gary Firman, Lee Harper, Jamie McMahon, Thomas Kelly and Steve Redmond all got on the scoresheet for Port, with Tommy Quinn replying.

Ian Detling, John Keane and Eddie Doyle got the goals for Killenagh Wanderers as they shared the spoils with Crossabeg after a 3-3 draw.

Dylan Shannon grabbed a lastminute winner for Shamrock Rovers as they kept the pressure on Division 3 leaders Gorey Rangers with a 4-3 victory over St. Joseph’s.

Seán Furlong netted a hat-trick for Joey’s but still ended up on the losing side, as Ricky Fox, Jack Carroll and Lar McDonald all hit the back of the net for Rovers before Shannon’s late match-winner.

Table-toppers Gorey Rangers had to dig deep to make it eight wins from eight, with a Kevin Kavanagh goal earning them a 1-0 triumph against Duncannon.

Enniscorthy Town enjoyed a more comfortable victory as they saw off Wexford 7-4 with goals from Darragh O’Grady, Eamon Cash, Joe Hyland, Darren Cullen, Paul Severin, Paul Devereux and Aaron Moorehouse.

Elsewhere, Peter Finn (two), Daire Bolger and Enda Wickham got the goals for Raheen as they picked up three points with a 4-0 away win over Rathnure, while Bree United were handed a walkover from Wexford Albion.

Ajax Athletic moved to the top of the Division 3A table thanks to a 2-1 away win over Rosslare Rangers on Sunday.

Jack Hanley and Darren Morrissey got the goals for the visitors, with Lee Pettit getting on the scoresheet for Rangers.

Wexford Bohs were top of the pile going into the weekend but they suffered a 4-1 reverse against Forth Celtic, with Aaron Lambert getting the goal for the Drinagh outfit and Jason Ellard (two), Keith Murphy and Ryan Murphy scoring for the Murrintown men.

John Breen (two) and Shane Whelan hit the back of the net as Ballymurn eked out a 3-2 win against a depleted Fethard outfit. Jean-Luc Tubritt won and converted two penalties for Rangers.

Rosslare Strand continued their impressive start to the season as they saw off Bridge Rovers 5-0, with Steven O’Reilly (two), Danny O’Reilly and Conor Clancy hitting the back of the net and an own goal adding to their tally.

All Blacks certainly had their shooting boots on as they ran out comprehensive 11-1 winners over Corach Ramblers.

Adam Devereux bagged a hat-trick for the winners, while John Codd, Mark Doyle and Niall Moore helped themselves to doubles, and Jason Pettit and Shane Mythen added a goal apiece.
