‘9 to 5’ musical in New Ross

WONDERFUL comedy 9 To 5 The Musical is hitting the St Michael’s Theatre stage in New Ross, starting on Tuesday, November 20.

Based on the 1980 movie of the same name with music and lyrics by country music icon Dolly Parton, who starred in the original movie alongside Lilly Tomlin and Jane Fonda. The musical tells the story of three office girls working for a domineering, chauvinistic boss. Continuously subjected to his lecherous advances and overlooked for promotion in favour of male colleagues, the girls fantasise about turning the tables until they finally concoct a scheme for revenge, kidnapping their boss and holding him captive in his own home. In his absence and unbeknownst to any of their co-workers, the girls assume control of the office and begin to implement new policies which actually transform the workplace. But how long can they keep up the pretence, how long before other employees become suspicious of the boss’s absence and how long until the boss finally escapes his captors’ clutches?
