Margaret says farewell after 22 happy years

FRIDAY, October 26, was a very special day in Scoil Naomh Áine, Rathgarogu­e, as it was the last day in the school for classroom and office assistant Margaret Fitzharris before she retired.

Ms Fitzharris is one of the longest serving members of staff in the school, having worked there since the late 1990s.

Commenting on her retirement and her commitment to the school, acting principal Elaine O’Connor said she was a constant face in Scoil Naomh Áine.

‘Every child, staff member and parent will remember her with fond memories,’ said Ms O’Connor.

‘Margaret has been an invaluable member of the school community and her local knowledge is second to none,’ she added.

Ms O’Connor went on to highlight the fact that Ms Fitzharris was known for her friendly, caring and helpful nature.

‘On a daily basis she was friendly, caring, entertaini­ng, helpful, generous and much, much more,’ she said.

‘It felt like she was a mammy to everyone, young and old in Scoil Naomh Áine,’ she added.

Ms O’Connor said everyone wished her well in her retirement despite being saddened by her leaving: ‘Staff and pupils alike are saddened at Margaret’s departure and ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís. We wish Margaret the very best of luck in her retirement and hope she has many happy and healthy years ahead in her next phase of life.’
