Winterland festival to be launched at end of month

-

WEXFORD’S QUAY front will come alive this Christmas once again as Santa’s North Pole Experience will return as part of the Wexford Winterland Festival, run by Lantern Events and supported by Wexford County Council.

Opening on November 30, families will have the chance to experience the fun and magic of the North Pole, and meet Santa and his elves up until December 23.

Visitors can stroll through the Magic Forest with snow covered Christmas trees glistening in the midnight moonlight and arrive at the Elves Village where children can post their letters in the post box, visit the bedroom of Dozy Elf, take a photograph at the North Pole and help the elves prepare the reindeer stables for the busy season ahead. The Elves Workshop is usually top secret but this very special visit allows you to meet the Grand High Elf and help mend and make toys. Finally, Patch the Elf will bring families, individually, to meet and receive a gift from the one and only, Santa Claus!

Tickets for the North Pole Experience are €8 per adult, €16 per child, €8 per toddler and under 12 months are free. Each children’s ticket includes a special gift from Santa.

A host of other events are also planned for this year’s Winterland Festival. The Christmas Express will run from the Bullring and bring families around the sights and sounds of Wexford while listening to Mrs Claus’s Christmas tales. The journey lasts about 15 minutes and will enthral kids of all ages.

The Wexford People Wexford On Ice rink also returns to the quay front on November 24 and will run until January 6. This year, there are lots of new features including new group offers, birthday party invites and a few surprises for skaters and non skaters to enjoy.

The festival will be launched with the spectacular Winterland Parade, organised by Wexford Retailers, on November 24. The town’s Christmas lights will also be switched on for the first time.

Wexford Winterland has something for the whole family this festive season and will ignite the magic of Christmas for everyone, aged one to one hundred!

Santa’s North Pole Experience, The Christmas Express and Wexford People Wexford on Ice can all be booked at www.wexfordwinterland.com, by calling 053-9199199 or at the Lantern Box Office at 1 North Main St.
