Warm welcome for prospective students

- By BRENDAN KEANE

THE CBS secondary school welcomed prospective First Year students and their parents and guardians through its doors last week when it held its annual open night.

The school is renowned for its academic success but is equally well known as being a very creative school where interest in the arts is actively promoted.

That was underlined on the night with various current students performing music pieces throughout the school.

The visitors, who were composed of local primary school fifth and sixth class pupils, were shown around the school and they got to chat with current students and teachers about the various subjects and extra-curricular activities available.

The science lab was particularly popular with the visiting children and the music instruments on show also proved to be a big draw for the primary school children.

Principal Pat Rossiter welcomed everyone to the school and he outlined the ethos of the CBS. He encouraged parents, guardians and the children to think carefully about where they would like to receive their secondary education and highlighted the benefits of the CBS.

Following a formal address from Mr Rossiter the parents were invited to tour the school and meet with teachers to find out more about what’s available.
