The weekly ‘30’ card game continues in the community centre this Friday, November 9, at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the tea last week. Catering on Friday, November 9, will be Catherine Moore, Kathleen O’Connor, Nancy Walsh and Tina Whelan. Catering on Friday the 16th will be Ann Marie Mackey and Ann Redmond. Catering on Friday the 23rd will be Ellie Walsh and Stella Delaney. Proceeds going to parish funds.

ATHLETIC CLUB NEWS

Adamstown Athletic Club will be hosting the Leinster Uneven Ages Cross Country in Adamstown on Sunday, November 11. We would appreciate any help on the day, so if you can work e.g. making sandwiches/buns/cakes or car park, track steward officials, shop staff, please contact Marie at 087 6675182.

Proceeds will go towards the new outdoor gym at the community centre which will be available for everyone in the community to use.

CAMROSS DRAMA GROUP

Rehearsals continue for the upcoming hilarious three-act comedy ‘Canaries’ by Bernard Farrell. Director Michael Stafford is doing a great job, organising his 12 strong cast. Performanc­es will be as follows: Friday, November 30, and Sunday, December 2 – Camross Hall, Wednesday and Thursday, December 12, and 13 – Wexford Arts Centre. Taghmon Action Group (TAG) presents bingo every Tuesday night in the TAG premises at 8 p.m. Also split-the-pot on the night. Tea and coffee available. Doors open at 7.30 p.m.

MEN’S SHED KINDLING

The members of the Shamrock Men’s Shed are selling bags of kindling for only €1.50 per bag. If you would like to buy kindling, the Men’s Shed is in Raheen Family Resource Centre every Monday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

COFFEE BREAK/BINGO

Raheen FRC is hosting a coffee break and bingo in Adamstown Community Centre on Tuesday, November 6, 10.30 to 12.30. Tuesday and Tuesday, December 27, and 18. Every three weeks for older members of the community. Cost is €3 all are welcome.

MASSES FOR HOLY SOULS

The November Masses for Holy Souls will take place as follows: Monday the 19th – Tomgarrow, Misterin, Rathkyle, Adamstown and Coolnagree. Tuesday the 20th – Oldcourt, Brocurra, Doononey, Woodview Drive. Wednesday the 21st – Newtown, The Leap, Knockreigh and Coonogue. Thursday the 22nd – Kellystown, Chapel, Raheenduff, The Barracks. Friday the 23rd – Glenour, Ballyvergi­n, Rathsilla and Fairfields.

May they rest in peace. Each evening we will gather in St Abban’s Oratory at 7.30 p.m. All present will receive a candle, which will be left lighting before the Blessed Sacrament. ROBBERY

A person or persons stole rope, installed in ducting in the Amenity Area at Spout Road, for the purpose of pulling cables through for lighting. This constitute­s a half mile of ducting. While the cost of the robe is approx. €50 the cost of reinstalla­tion is estimated at €2,670. This operation of stealing was not carried out in a few minutes but took a considerab­le time. As many houses overlook the area it is possible someone saw the culprits.

We in Clonroche Developmen­t Associatio­n will appreciate any informatio­n we can get on this incident with a promise of anonymity. If we establish the identity of the perpetrato­rs it is our intention to pursue, through the courts, for full costs. There was also a roll of cabling stolen from a roof in the facility. Enniscorth­y Gardaí have been informed.

SPLIT-THE-POT

The winner of the last draw held in the Cloch Ban was Sam Earle, Tomfarney. The pot was €224, all proceeds help in the maintenanc­e of the village and tickets can be purchased at various outlet around the village and parish.

NEW ROSS SINGERS

‘The Armed Man’ by Karl Jenkins will be performed by the New Ross Singers with Orchestra and soloist, Hayley Crosbie, on November 11 at 8 p.m. in the Parish Church, Robert St., New Ross, as part of the New Ross Remembers weekend of commemorat­ions of the ending of World War 1. Tickets €20, students €10 – available from choir members or on the door. Place €2 in the envelope with your name and phone number and you could be the next lucky winner of €300 or more.

All proceeds are divided equally between the local Community Sports Ground and the church. Decorative cards containing five envelopes will be available for Christmas and would be the ideal Christmas present. €10 for all five and as usual half the pot will go to the lucky winner.

CONFIRMATI­ON

Thirty five young people from Newbawn national school have just begun preparatio­n for their confirmati­on which will take place in the nearby church of the Sacred Heart in early March. We wish them well.

‘Lucy in the Sky’ by Tony Layton went to Goresbridg­e and Kilmallock DLI festivals last weekend – the crew, cast and director got good adjudicati­ons but unfortunat­ely, no placings. However, there are still four festivals to go – Palmerstow­n, Cork CAT club, Carrigalle­n and Rossmore, so fingers crossed for all of those.

The annual fundraisin­g table quiz will be on Friday, November 23 at 8.30 p.m. in Rochfords Bar, Camross. €20 per table – keep those braincells active.

FAMILY RESOURCE CENTRE

STORIES AND YARNS OF LIFE IN TAGHMON – Anyone, who is interested in a project to record some stories and yarns about life in Taghmon past and present come to the Family Resource Centre on Wednesday, November 7, at 2 p.m. This project will be facilitate­d by the Author Cat Hogan over a number of weeks.

LEGO TECHNICS WORKSHOP – Free. This takes place on Tuesday, November 13, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the FRC for children aged 5-12. Booking is essential as there are limited spaces. This event forms part of ‘WexSci’ -Wexford Science Festival for Science Week 2018.

PARENT BABY AND TODDLER MORNING - The group meets on Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. There will be toys and activities for the children and refreshmen­ts for all. Driver Theory Practice Drop In – Starting on Monday, November 12, from 3.30 p.m. to 5 p.m. for six weeks for anyone under-25. Driver theory test fee included depending on attendance. TAGHMON MEN’S SHED – Meets on Wednesdays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the shed on Joseph Street.

POSITIVE LIVING WOMEN’S GROUP – This group meets on Wednesday mornings at 10.30 a.m. They have a varied programme of activities planned till Christmas. All are welcome.
