This friendly group meets every Wednesday morning during school terms between 9.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. in the Sunshine room in Clongeen School. It is open to anyone from the Clongeen area and from further afield – parents, grandparents, guardians, childminders, etc. are all welcome, and of course the little ones too (babies to toddlers). The cost is only €4 per adult which includes refreshments for both the adults and children.

This is a fun and relaxed group with loads of fun activities, crafts and singing, where both adults and children can meet new friends. As toddlers are growing up and moving on to the next step in their young lives, we have loads of room for new comers this September. Please feel free to share this information and we look forward to seeing both new and familiar small and bigger faces. For more info, visit and like our Facebook page or you can call or text Véro at 086 1034878.

OVER-35S SOCCER

15 guys took to the field on Saturday the 27th, Halloween weekend and what a scary sight some of them were. There was a small shuffle in terms of teams and the little tweak made a difference in that the young fella’s got a win, their first in ages by the odd goal I believe. The bit of leadership being added to the team made all the difference. The main things was that plenty of sweat was shed and everyone enjoyed the game.

Dessie must have left his shooting boots overseas, since returning the net has been hard to find for him, hopefully this weekend normal service will resume and the bibs can reclaim victory. Games take place on Saturday evening at 6 p.m. indoor in Grantstown, be there 15 minutes beforehand so we can kick off in the allotted time please. If you’d like to come along or want further information, please give Dave Burke a shout either by text or a call to 086 8596627.

COUNTY CHAMPIONS

The intermediate hurlers took on Cloughbawn in the County Final replay in Wexford Park last week. With both sides making some personnel changes this was a much tighter and low scoring game.

Fethard started strongly again with Mark Wallace and Bryan Power helping them to a four point lead mid-way through the half. The lead could have been bigger but the swirling wind into the town end made scoring difficult. Cloughbawn eventually sprung to life getting 1-3 in the next five minutes to give them a two point lead at the break.

It was score for score in the second half as Mark Wallace kept Fethard in touch. The introduction of some fresh legs paid off as Garrett Foley tied up the sides with five minutes to go before Eddie Power gave them the lead with time up. It has been a difficult few weeks for the Dwyer family with the loss of one of the club’s most vocal supporters Mick, but it was fitting that his son Mikie, who had replaced his other son Ciaran guided over the insurance point deep into injury time.

The final whistle was greeted with great scenes of jubilation as Fethard won on a 0-14 to 1-9 scoreline. After the match the cup was presented to joint captains Garrett Foley and Graham O’Grady. Mark Wallace added to his ever growing list of honours with his Man of the match award for his 10 point contribution.

The team now look forward to playing senior hurling next year but first they had an outing in the Leinster Intermediate Club Championship with a game against Meath senior hurling champions, Kiltale in Wexford Park last Saturday.
