Forge Vintage Club annual party and presentation night

-

THIS Saturday, the Forge Vintage Club will hold its annually Christmas party and presentation of cheques night in The Oak Tree bar in Foulksmills.

A buffet dinner will be served on the night, followed by musical entertainment by T-Bone Country.

This year the vintage car club raised €8,000 and cheques will be presented on the night to Wexford Hospice homecare, Clongeen Parish for the Senior Citizens Party, Clongeen National School and Cumas New Ross.

This year’s money was raised through the following events: on March 25 everyone enjoyed the Christy Purcell memorial road run. 125 people registered and a large crowd was around the village to see the motorcade off as they travelled to Cassagh and then returned to Foulksmills. A variety of vintage tractors and cars and bikes participated and also a selection of new vehicles on the day.

On June 29 the club held its members over night trip, travelling to Clonmel in lovely sunshine on a convoy of tractors, bikes and a bus. Having departed Clongeen they headed into New Ross where they did a few circles of the town, before crossing the bridge for a short stop in the Gala shop.

From there they travelled to Piltown where they stopped for some lunch. Once refuelled they left again on to their final destination for the evening and arrived in the Clonmel Park Hotel.

The following morning they took off from Clonmel with lovely sunshine back to Foulksmills, where they were treated to a lovely barbecue in the Oak Tree bar.

On September 16 the crew were out again for their annual road run this time, travelling from Foulksmills to Adamstown, taking a different route back. Once again the club members were lucky with the day and had glorious sunshine for the whole journey. They enjoyed a lovely dinner in The Oak Tree bar upon their return.

Tickets for the buffet dinner cost €15 and are on sale from any of the club’s members, Sinnott’s Shop
