Leinster dates made
ACLEARER picture was presented on Wexford’s inter-county commitments for 2019 last week when the Leinster Council met to finalise various dates and venues. The Senior footballers will be taking on Louth in Innovate Wexford Park on May 12, and there is a huge incentive to win that one given that the venue will also host All-Ireland champions Dublin on May 25 if the home side clears that first hurdle.
The Senior hurlers will have a bye on May 11-12 before facing Dublin away on May 18-19, and Galway away on Sunday, May 26, at 4 p.m.
They will have another bye on June 1-2, and will then be at home to Carlow on June 8-9, and to Kilkenny on June 15-16.
Under-20 hurling is replacing Under-21, and Wexford have a bye to the semi-final where they will face Dublin, Westmeath, Offaly, Carlow or the Ulster representatives.
In Under-20 football, Wexford will be at home to Wicklow, with the winners not having to travel either for a quarter-final clash against Louth.
The Minor footballers are in a very tough group along with Dublin, Meath and Offaly, while their hurling counterparts will play tier one games away to Offaly, home to Kilkenny, and home to Dublin in that order.
Minor football is due to start on Easter Tuesday, April 23, with the first hurling game on the following Saturday.
