Foodie havens offer heavenly prizes for Tapestry fundraiser

-

THE Ros Tapestry has come up with a novel and very tempting raffle as part of their fund-raising to preserve and frame the tapestries this year.

Following on from a couple of other themed raffles in past years, this concentrates on lovely food in some local restaurants.

At the launch of the raffle in the Dunbrody Visitor Centre the prizes were revealed.

They include a dinner for two in the Gallery Restaurant of the Brandon House, a garden visit for two, with tea and cakes to the Kilmokea Gardens, a €25 voucher for the Captain’s Table, Sunday lunch for four at Mannion’s and a voucher for a treat at the Cracked Teapot cafe.

Slightly further afield in the south east, Kelly’s Hotel in Rosslare, a favourite of many people, has offered lunch for two in Beaches Restaurant, while the Ferrycarrig Hotel has offered dinner for two in Reed’s Restaurant. The award-winning Roche’s bar in Duncannon is giving a €30 voucher for lunch, while another winning restaurant, Anocht at the Kilkenny Design Centre donated an early bird dinner for two – a great offer to use when the Kilkenny Arts Festival is taking place.

In the other direction two venues in Graiguenamanagh have generously presented prizes – the popular Waterside Restaurant has offered dinner for two, while Barrow’s Keep has given a €50 voucher towards dinner in their ‘Best Newcomer of 2018’ venue in the recent Carlow awards.

Creacon Wellness Retreat has donated two nights B&B for two people, making for a relaxing break.

Connie Tantrum of The Ros Tapestry said the panels need preserving and framing.

She said: ‘ This is very expensive work, needing expert professionals who deal with museums. But it is a necessity. One of the panels is in Dublin at the moment being framed, and it is hoped that this raffle will pay for a second one to be completed. So although one ticket only costs €2, a book of six costs a tenner, a bargain, and will give you more chances to win one of the many tempting prizes. Tickets are available at the Ros Tapestry Exhibition Centre and outlets.’

The board of the Ros Tapestry expressed its gratitude to all the venues that so generously supported this venture.
