Louise adds to beauty titles with big pageant win

- By DAVID LOOBY

BEAUTY QUEEN Louise Phillpot has seen her career sky-rocket having won a Ms Ireland competition.

Louise has worked in the beauty industry, as an actor and a Disney princess and beat off stiff competition to claim a Ms Ireland title this month.

She is the reigning Ms Wexford and her latest big win at a Ms Ireland competition in the Alsaa sports centre has given her a perfect start to 2019.

Louise, who shot to national prominence last summer having claimed in a national newspaper that she was discriminated against for being too small, said: ‘ For the last eight months I had the title of Ms Wexford. This was the build up to the Ms Ireland competition. I did lots of appearances at charity events with my Ms Wexford title.’

Louise won the competition in her first time entering it. ‘ I worked so hard for this moment and it goes to show that hard work does really pay in the end. I have done many pageants before, one being in 2014 when I was crowned the ultimate beauty princess of the UK and Ireland which was held up the north. I was also in one of the Wexford rose selections back in 2011 and I was a finalist in the face of Ireland in 2012.’

Louise has also appeared in a few Irish feature films over recent years. She is currently working at New Ross Community Hospital.

Louise plans to continue doing charity work in 2019, having held a children’s’ princess charity pageant in May in aid of ectopic pregnancy which was a great success. She is also hosting another event on February 24 with all funds going towards the community hospital.

Things are taking off for the up-and-coming model.

‘I was recently asked to model at London Fashion Week which is a huge model event with top worldwide models. I cannot wait to see what my new Ireland title brings me this year. I have already stuff lined up that I am very excited about and I will work so hard as a queen to represent my country. I am also available for all events to attend as your new Ms Ireland 2019.’

5ft 7in Louise said she was not discouraged having been judged to be an inch too short to work in high fashion last summer despite doing commercial shoots for the last nine years and appearing in worldwide magazines, including Nuts.

She said not making the minimum height of 5ft 8in means she can’t strut her stuff for the leading labels and is limited to commercial label modelling.
