Funding for 14 local groups

FOURTEEN COMMUNITY organisati­ons across County Wexford will share in funding of €69,437.50 from the Community Services Programme Support Fund.

The CSP Support Fund will enable community organisati­ons, participat­ing in the Community Services Programme, to pay their staff the newly increased minimum wage which rose to €9.80 per hour effective from this month.

Nationally, 263 organisati­ons and over 980 full-time equivalent staff will benefit.

Pobal carried out an assessment of all CSP supported organisati­ons and the CSP Support Fund was approved by the Department based on their recommenda­tion.

The CSP Support Fund is being run on a onceoff basis in 2019 pending a review which will commence in February. The review will inform decisions on the future shape and structure of the programme.

In Wexford, the highest allocation in the county was granted to the John F Kennedy Trust which receives €12,650. The Senior Citizens Concern Company in Ramsgrange was granted €11,000 while Feachtas Ealaion Cuideachta Faoi Theorainn Ráthaíocht­a (St Michael’s Theatre) received a total of €8,800.

The Hook Heritage Company will benefit from an allocation of €8,800 while Hook Rural Tourism Company will receive €2,200. New Ross Needlecraf­t Company was granted €3,300.

North of the county, Kilmuckrid­ge Community and Family Resource Enterprise Company will receive €1,650 while St Aidan’s Day Care Centre in Gorey received €2,200.

In Enniscorth­y, Templeshan­non Community and Childcare Centre Company was granted €4,400 while the National 1798 Historical Centre company was granted €3,300.

Finally, in Wexford, St Joseph’s Community Centre Company received a grant of €2,200, as did Wexford Arts Centre. Wexford Heritage Trust received €4,400 and Windmill Therapeuti­c Training Unit received €2,337.50.
