Preparations pay off for U-13 team
ENNISCORTHY DUNDALK 33 7
IT HAS been a busy season for Enniscorthy’s Under-13 rugby team, and they have played 15 games between South-East League, Leinster League Premier Division, and now the McGowan Cup.
They had prepared well for the trip to Dundalk and focused on attack in their training sessions with guidance from first team players Ivan Poole and Killian Lett which added structure.
Enniscorthy were missing some players because of sickness but their fast line speed in defence and attack worked.
The first-half was tough as Dundalk were a big squad both in numbers and size, but Enniscorthy opened the scoring space.
With a couple of swift passes they broke out wide, and Cathal Kehoe scored.
The conversion was added by Arthur Ashmore to make it 7-0 to Enniscorthy which is how the firsthalf finished.
Dundalk came back strong and straight after the break they kicked into space, with their winger winning the race to touch down under the posts. It was now 7-7 and game on.
Enniscorthy re-grouped and started to dominate territory and the game, and then the scores came.
The second try was scored by Colin Ivers who made a super break to touch down.
Corey Walsh-Murphy was outstanding, helping himself to three tries, and Ashmore added two conversions.
Enniscorthy played superb rugby in the second-half to seal the win.
