LOTTO

There was no jackpot winner last week when the numbers drawn were 6, 12, 21 and 23. There was no match-three winner either so this week’s jackpot stands at €5,900 while the matchthree prize stands at €400.

ROWING CLUB AGM

St Kearns Rowing Club will hold it’s AGM on Friday, February 8, next at 8 p.m. in Colclough Hall, Saltmills. All members are asked to attend.

CARDS

Winners in the hall last week were Willie White, Kieran Keating and Jimmy Haughton. Second went to Pat Whelan, Paddy Murphy and Dave Murphy. In third place was Karl Hall, Johnny Cogley and Siobhán Doyle. The last game draw went to Nicholas Doyle, Mick Reville and Willie Kehoe. Raffle winners were Tom Corcoran, Noel Redmond, Kieran Keating and Larry Power. The card games on Tuesday, February 12, will be in aid of Fr Jim Nolan’s missionary work in the Solomon Islands. Anyone wishing to make a donation to this cause can do so to any member of the parish committee.

LOTTO SYNDICATE

Places are rapidly filling up in the Gusserane GAA Club’s lotto Syndicate. The club’s major fundraiser this year is aimed towards putting in a gym n to the club house in Gusserane. It involves getting 300 people to sign up to €20 per month for a full year.

Payment includes you in a large lotto syndicate where you will be included in each National Lottery and Euromillio­ns Draw each week for the year and also includes a paid up ticket for the Model County Draw. There will be two lucky winners drawn from the hat each month as well as a special draw for fully paid up members.

The club will be looking for members to join up before the end of February. Further details are available from any member of the Gusserane GAA Club executive committee and from the Gusserane GAA Facebook and GORahilly Twitter accounts.

COFFEE MORNING.

Senior citizens Concern CLG are holding a coffee morning on Tuesday, February 19, from 9 a.m. to midday in St Louis Day Care Centre. Proceeds in aid of the Day Care Centre. All welcome.

Gusserane National School is at present taking enrolments for the new school year 2019/2020. Although he had been unwell in recent times his death in Knockeen nursung home Barntown on Sunday evening, February 27, came as a shock. Aged 75 years old he had recently undergone treatment in a Dublin hospital. A native of Newbawn village Billy was a noted hurler in his youth before emigrating to London where he spent the greater part of his life. He returned to his native Newbawn in recent years with his beloved wife Penelope (Penny) and had a big interest in racehorses on their farm in Ballyclemo­ck.

Bill was interred in the new cemetery in Newbawn on Wednesday of last week where Penny was also interred exactly six years ago. Requiem Mass was celebrated in the Church of the Sacred Heart Newbawn on Wednesday with burial afterwards in the nearby cemetery. Sympathy is extended to his brother Pat, sisters May, Helen and Ann, In-laws, nephews, nieces, and many other relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

THE LATE MARY KANE

Sincere sympathy is extended to Denis, Ann, Kathleen and Mary Kane on the recent passing of their mother Mary (Pol) Courtoyle. In her early eighties she had been unwell in recent times and was pre_deceased by her husband Paddy. She was interred in Adamstown cemetery following requiem Mass in Raheen church. Sympathy also to her brother James (Jim Prendergas­t and all of her other relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.

TEAM CAPTAIN

Michael Furlong of Grallagh will captain the Wexford senior football team when they play London in the their national league game on Sunday 10th February in the English capital city.
