How our four leaders are getting on with their training regimes

LIAM DOYLE

So heading into our sixth week now and without a shadow of doubt I’m seeing the benefits of all our training and our nutritional plan.

I feel so much better in myself, my energy levels and my sleep have improved dramatically. Tuesday evening we had pilates with Jane in Wexford Pilates Studio and afterwards we did some foam roller exercises which weren’t the most pleasant but I felt instant relief in my legs afterwards.

CAROLINE FLEMING

Had a bad start to the week Sunday night when I burnt my leg with boiling water from a hot water bottle. I took Monday as a rest day and had an appointment with Crouch & Kirwan physiotherapist (Bryan & Julie) to try out the normatec recovery boots. I couldn’t use the boots on my legs so Julie suggested keeping the appointment and had the air compression on my arm and shoulders instead.

I went for a swim after that and then Pilates which I’m still really enjoying with Jane Kennedy in Wexford Pilaties Studio.

Wednesday I did a 5k in the GAA pitch in Ferns and Thursday I did cross training on the rowing machine at home. Friday was rest day and Saturday I went to Nolan’s Gym and Sunday I did my 50 mins cross training swimming in the Waterfront Pool.

Wasn’t a great week for running but will be back on track this week as my leg is healing well.

HELEN RYAN

Last Saturday we were all in Nolan’s Gym in Enniscorthy with Sean who did a circuit with us to help us with our breathing when running – the advice was

great for me, as I can control my breathing running on the flat but it’s a different story when going up hill! So that’s something I’ve been focusing on this week, going for walks around hilly roads to get my body used to going uphill as well as on the flat.

Kevin also reminded us Saturday how important our rest days are as it’s easy at the beginning to burn yourself out, so trying to keep in my mind slow and steady wins the race!!

DENISE FARRELL

I am going to the gym four times per week and then meeting the group on Saturdays. I am really enjoying going to the gym to exercise but also as it is time to myself.

The Pilates on Monday mornings is great for stretching but also for your mental health. Still cant get my diet sorted. Eating all fresh homemade foods. Feel better for it but I need to try and focus my food plan. Loving being part of Hope and Dream.
