HISTORICAL TALK

The next talk by the Graiguenam­anagh Historical Society will be held on Friday, February 15, in the library in Graiguenam­anagh. The title of the Talk will be: ‘Everyday Life in the 1830s ‘and will be given by the well-known historian and genealogis­t Mr Frank Clarke from Glynn, St Mullins. In his talk Frank will deal with the appalling living conditions of that time in the Baronies of Gowran and St Mullins.

The numbers drawn were 6, 9, 17 and 31, and there was no winner. Next week’s jackpot stands at €10,000, Reserve jackpot €3,300. Consolatio­n winners were Ann Kavanagh, Ann Spineller, Danny Foley-Glynn, Maurice Kelly, Sinéad and Rob Jacksan. Tickets available from all local outlets or from any committee member.

The citizen informatio­n office in main street Graignaman­agh is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 10;30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. This is a free private and confidentl­y informatio­n service.

TIDY TOWNS JACKPOT

This week’s results are first prize – Alice – €230; second prize - Billy Costello – €50, third Prize - Brid McGrath – €25. Money raised through the jackpot will be used to keep the town looking well all year round. Draw takes place every Thursday in the Abbey Centre at approximat­ely 4 p.m.
