LEOs support 1,308 jobs in more than 200 Wexford companies

-

THE Local Enterprise Office (LEO) facilitated a net increase of 33 jobs in County Wexford in 2018.

Figures announced last Thursday reveal that across the country LEOs created 3,656 (net) jobs last year.

In Co Wexford, Local Enterprise Offices supported 1,308 full- and part-time jobs in 227 LEO-supported companies.

Nationally, 36,666 people are employed by 7,164 Local Enterprise Office supported companies.

This is the fifth year of employment growth for the Local Enterprise Offices. There has been an 11% jobs creation increase in current companies within the LEO portfolio since 2017.

Since the LEOs were established in 2014 their clients have created over 18,000 jobs in small businesses across the country. The Local Enterprise Offices also approved €18.2 million worth of financial assistance to 1,259 projects.

The 31 Local Enterprise Offices nationwide, an initiative of the Government of Ireland, are operated in partnership with Enterprise Ireland and the local authorities.

LEOs have been active in preparing small businesses in Ireland for Brexit. Local Enterprise Offices have begun to roll out Brexit Customs Training across the country, enabling small businesses to learn about customs import and export procedures required post-Brexit to ensure they can continue to trade effectively with a country outside the single market.

Tax statements replacing P45s and P60s

What is replacing P45 and P60 statements?

Since 1 January 2019, P45s and P60s have been abolished and replaced with an online system as part of PAYE modernisation.

You will no longer get a P45 if you leave your job. Instead, your employer must now send this information electronically to Revenue. The P60 certificate will be replaced by an end of year statement.

Your 2018 P60 is the last P60 that you will get from your employer. Your end of year statement for 2019 will be available after December 31, 2019, through Revenue’s myAccount service.

An end of year statement includes details of all your pay and the income tax, USC and PRSI deducted by your employer during the year. It also records your Local Property Tax (LPT) deductions (if you choose to have the LPT deducted from your pay).

Further information is available from the Citizens Information Centre below.
