COFFEE MORNING

Senior citizens Concern CLG are holding a coffee morning on Tuesday, February 19, from 9 a.m. to midday in St Louis Day Care Centre. Proceeds in aid of the Day Care Centre.

LATE ITA COX

The death occurred last Sunday after a short illness of Mrs Ita Cox (née Neary), Fethard-onSea, and formerly of Belmullet, Co. Mayo). Wife of the late Dr Stephen Cox and mother of Dr John Cox she was a well known and popular member of the local community. She will be sadly missed by her sons and daughters, John, Genevieve (McGuire), Gerard, Stephen, Raymond, Evelyn (O’ Reilly), Una (Phillips) and Michael, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, sister-in-law, grandchild­ren, great grandchild­ren, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. Her funeral Mass took place last Tuesday in St Aidan’s Church, Poulfur with internment afterwards in Poulfur Cemetery. May she rest in peace.

DINNER DANCE

Fethard St Mogue’s dinner dance to present the successful men’s and ladies’ teams their medals will be held in the Brandon House Hotel on Saturday, March 2, music by Premier DJ’s. Tickets €35 will be available to purchase in the post office. Other opportunit­ies for purchasing tickets will be updated here once details are confirmed. Please note, it is a strictly over-18s event.

FETHARD RANGERS

Fethard Rangers won 3-2 away to Wexford Bohs last Sunday with goals from Chris Colfer (2) and Jimmy Sutton. They have won five of their last seven league games now and have moved three points clear of the relegation zone with only four games to go.

WEEKLY LOTTO

There was no winner of last week’s Club lotto jackpot of €2,800. Next week’s jackpot stands at €2,900. The numbers drawn were 6, 17, 28 and 30. The club had two lucky-dip winners Ger Foley and Maura Foley, who won €30 each.

FETHARD ST MOGUE’S GAA

The draws for this year’s championsh­ips took place recently. Fethard mark their return to the Senior Hurling championsh­ip with a game against Faythe Harriers on the weekend of April 13/14 followed by Rapparees the following weekend. Also in the group is Ferns, St Anne’s and St Martin’s. In Senior Football they start their campaign against last year’s champions Shelmalier­s on the weekend of March 30/31 followed by St Anne’s the following week. Also in the group is Horeswood, Glynn-Barntown and Starlights.

FETHARD SPLIT-THE-POT

Congratula­tions to Rita Colfer, who won €89 in this week’s splitthe-pot (February 14). Envelopes for split-the-pot are available in the post office, Dillon’s, The Wheelhouse, Droopy’s, Molloy’s, Neville’s and the Tourist Office. Draw takes place every Thursday.

PROGRESSIV­E 45

The winners of the Progressiv­e 45 Card Game in Colclough Hall, Saltmills last Sunday night were, Billy Shannon and Tony Murphy. In second place between were Michael Kehoe, Jimmy Cullen and John Joe Murphy. In third place were Nicholas Doyle, Johnnie Flynn and John Reville. The last game draw was won by Georgie Foley, Siobhán Doyle and Seán Finn. The raffle winners were Liam Power, Michael Murphy, Aidan Colfer and Joan Fardy.

CREATIVE EXCHANGE GROUP

The Creative Exchange group is working with Ceramic Artist Mairead Stafford on a Sculpture. which will be set within the Pound in the village. This will acknowledg­e the Donors to the community group. We meet each Friday in Colclough Hall from 10 to one and if you would like to be part of this creative practice just drop in. €2 to defray costs. Work on your own project or be part of group practices. We welcome suggestion­s for workshops that are of low cost or if you have a creative skill you would like to share contact us. Kindly supported by Colclough Hall and hosted by Saltmills St Kearns Community Group.

TEENAGE DISCO

There will be a teenage disco in Campile Hall on this coming Friday night, February 22, for all secondary school students from nine to 12, doors open 8 p.m. strictly no alcohol or drugs allowed. This is a fully supervised event.

HORTICULTU­RE SOCIETY AGM

Ramsgrange Horticultu­re Society held their AGM on February 13 in the Strand Tavern, Duncannon. Those elected for the coming year were as follws: chairperso­n Rodney Brunt, assistant chairperso­n Eleanor Foley, secretary Bill McCarthy, assistant secretary Noreen McCarthy, treasurer Mary Ryan, assistant treasurer May Cadogan, PRO Eleanor Foley, May Cadogan.
