PINK TO MAKE THE BOYS WINK!
VIBE SALON PUTS THE FUN IN BREAST CANCER FUNDRAISER
A colourful ‘ Pink to Make the Boys Wink’ fundraiser was held at Vibe hair salon in New Ross to raise money for the Solas cancer support centre in Waterford.
Pink to Make The Boys Wink was launched two years ago by Louise Fraher in the Ivy Wellness centre.
The first year saw a personal gathering of friends and family to raise some money for the Solas centre as the Fraher family lost their brother to cancer, Mick Fraher. It was a hard time for the family but with the help of the Solas centre they got through it. They were offered free services including counselling and holistic treatments.
This year Louise and her family rounded up all the salons they knew in Tramore, Waterford and New Ross to bring awareness of breast cancer and to promote self checks and to make people aware of the support the Solas centre offers to men and women suffering with cancer in the south east and also to their families, as it is a tough time for all involved no matter what age. This is where Vibe hair got involved as owner Jenny O’Neill worked with Jane Fraher Kennedy many years ago when Peter Mark first opened in Waterford.
Vibe invited customers and the public to join them in dying their hair pink with a wash out colour pink and to donate or raise sponsorship.
The event can be as small or as big as the salon wished so Jenny decided to go with a fun night with prosecco and cup cakes.
Mary Harrington and her sister Helen and friend Andrea were but three who dyed their hair that night and now are planning on doing a joint effort next year to make the event even bigger and better.
All hair and beauty salons in New Ross are welcome to join in next year just contact Jenny at Vibe Hair on 051 445964.
There will be an official cheque presenting night in Waterford on November 25 where all funds from all salons will be counted and presented to The Solas Centre.
