LOCAL SWIMMERS ENJOY SPANISH TRAINING CAMP
SIXTEEN New Ross area athletes travelled to the to Torremolinos on the Costa del Sol for a week long training camp under the guidance of coaches Fran Ronan and Sarah Lee.
The club had a detailed training schedule including four hours pool time per day, as well as additional land activities.
Training in an outdoor 50m pool was a novel experience for many of the swimmers. They were also training beside other overseas teams from the UK and France and again this was a new dynamic for the group.
Back home now and enjoying the familiarity of the Apex facilities, the team are busy preparing for the regional short course season with the aim for strong representation at the National Short Course Championship early in 2020. The club would again like to thank the Apex for their sponsorship and their support for the club.
The Leinster National and Senior schools championships were held in the National Aquatic Centre, on Sunday, October 13.
The club had swimmers representing St Mary’s, The Good Counsel, Our Lady of Lourdes and the CBS Secondary schools in New Ross.
Two of the swimmers also competed in the Munster Senior Schools. The St Mary’s girls took home a first and third place in relay events While individually, swimmers won two first places, four second and Four third places.
The afternoon session was for the primary sector, Cushinstown, Rathgarogue, Castlebridge, The Rower and St Mary’s NS Enniscorthy were some of the national schools in the country also represented by New Ross swimmers.
The swimmers had excellence performances for their schools with Personal Best times recorded for all swimmers, with two first places, two second places and a third recorded.
