GREYHOUND RACING
THE FEATURE event at Enniscorthy dog track last week was the first round of the Black and Amber Unraced Stake, and Wexford town owners had a good night, winning three of the six heats.
The quickest time of the first round was recorded in heat four by the Damien Kennedy-owned It’s My Luck. Although led in the early stage by favourite Barstool Boy, she was right on the heels of the leader down the back and joined the issue between the last bends to take control off the last corner, going away to score a fine victory in a very good 29.32 – 30 slow considering the conditions.
Onwer Brendan Frayne rounded the night off with a bang as his litter comrades, Zalas Girl and Lorraine Machine, took the final two heats, with Zalas showing good determination to hold off several challengers in a finish of short heads.
On Thursday night the Pat Hyland-owned Vinegarhillsmile was a most impressive winner of the A3/4 sixth race over the 575 yards trip.
Blasting from traps, Vinegar was clear going around the first bend and, leaving some scrimmaging behind, she was well on her way and raced home a clearcut winner by eight lengths in a very good 31.79.
Gordon Murray had a welcome change of luck in race three when Whitemill Lad swept past leader Ard Uisce down the back and raced clear up the straight to score by five and a half lengths in a good 29.32 -30 slow.
