SVP SAYS ‘THANK YOU’

The local conference of SVP wishes to thank most sincerely all of those who contribute­d so generously to the recent collection. The money collected will help to ensure that those in needs will not be hungry or cold this Christmas. Your generosity is greatly appreciate­d.

TERRERATH HALL

Bingo every Wednesday night at 8 p.m., we would appreciate all support and all are welcome. Every Monday night, our new yoga classes have commenced in the community centre from 7.30-8.30. Open to both male and female. Friday nights: Irish dancing, and Thursdays – Slimming World. The local soccer club also has training sessions from five years upwards. The Hall Committee appreciate­s everyone using the facilities and helps the upkeep of the hall.

CLOTHES BAG COLLECTION

Terrerath Community Centre are holding a clothes collection in the next couple of months, anyone who has unwanted clothes (shoes, bags, etc) no duvets, pillows or underwear. We would love everyone to support this cause in aid of NCBI (which supports people with sight loss).

SPLIT-THE-POT

Please remember split-the-pot is drawn each Sunday following 11 a.m. Mass in St Mary’s Church, Cushinstow­n. Tickets for the split-the-pot is available locally at €2 each. recent years but the group would love to see new members come on board to help in any way during 2020.

SOLOMON ISLANDS

The annual card games in aid of Fr Jim Nolan’s missionary work in the Solomon Islands is on Tuesday, January 28, in Gusserane Hall. Your support on the night would be greatly appreciate­d. Donations can also be made to any of the parish committee over the coming weeks.

There was no jackpot winner last week when the numbers drawn were 4, 12, 15 and 25. The match-three winners were Sarah Cullen of Yoletown (twice), Katie Finn of Wellingtin­bridge, Abbie Whelan of Ballyculla­ne and Ann Jordan of Garryculle­n. This week’s jackpot stands at €13,250.

PLOUGHING MATCH

Ballyculla­ne Ploughing Associatio­n will be holding their 62nd annual ploughing match at Dunmain on Sunday, January 19, on land kindly given by John Stoneham. Match will start at 11 a.m. – all are welcome.

Guild members will visit St John’s Hospital for sing song and chat on Sunday, January 19, leaving Camross at 1.30 p.m. There will be a Craft Night at Mairead O’Gormans on this Wednesday, January 15, at 7.30 p.m., members bring your unfinished pieces.

Mary Somers, Federation Arts and crafts promoter has organised a Heron Making class for Saturday, January 25, in Oylegate Community Centre from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with teacher Imogen Stafford. For more details contact Mary at 087 9120667.

Our annual Irish Night to raise funds for 2020 Seniors Christmas party will be held in Rochfords Lounge on Friday, March 13, this will be the March Trad Night and not to be missed. Alice Whitty won the competitio­n for the nicest slice of Christmas Cake and Ann O’Gorman and Dympna Kelly served us a delicious tea on Nollag na mBan. A game of ‘Fun Bingo’ followed the meeting.

Our February meeting will be held on Monday, February 3. 8 p.m. in Camross Hall, new members are always welcome.

CAMROSS DRAMA GROUP

Cast and crew of ‘ The Year of the Hiker’ have been busy rehearsing, gathering props, costumes, designing sets etc all over the holiday season. The first performanc­e in Camross Hall on Friday, January 31, will arrive quickly.

GAA CLUB NEWS

The lotto jackpot wasn’t won on Tuesday night. Five matchthree winners shared €200. The next draw is on January 21 at 8.30. The jackpot will remain at €14,000 till we get a winner but the reserve jackpot will keep going up while we wait. It’s now up to €5,000. Please encourage any family or friends living away from the area to support the draw through the online Taghmon-Camross

The club AGM will take place at the centre on Sunday, January 19, at 3 p.m. Deadline for nomination­s and motions has now passed (Friday, January 10). Please ensure any nominees are informed if you have put their names forward for club posts.
