Nolan’s and O’Donnell’s owners wished well

THE owners of Nolan’s book shop and Noreen O’Donnell’s boutique have been thanked for their service to the town, which needs a reboot, according to Wexford County Council chairman Michael Sheehan.

Speaking at the New Ross Municipal District council meeting on Wednesday, Cllr Sheehan said two major retailers in the town announced prior to the bypass opening that they were closing down. ‘I want to thank both of them for their years of service to the town and wish them well in the future.’

Cllr Sheehan said there is an opportunit­y now to capitalise on the bypass and the lack of traffic on the quays.

‘We, in the municipal council, the county council, in the planning and in the environmen­t sections, need to look at a town plan for the centre and look at the traffic flow as the opportunit­y is there for us to reboot New Ross and with the back end of the economic section we now have the resources to rejuvenate the town with a strategic plan.’

When asked what effort has been made to get the area’s successful diaspora involved, Mr McCormack said a list of up to 80 names has been collated.
