Club draws made
Football start planned for late March
THE CLUBS of the county learned their fate for the 2020 championship campaigns when the draws for the group stages were made in Chadwicks Wexford Park after Sunday’s victory over Kilkenny.
The formats are exactly similar to last year, with two groups of six in each of the twelve-team championships. Each team will play five games in all, with the top four qualifying for quarter-finals while the bottom sides will play-off to avoid relegation.
The first round of the football has been provisionally pencilled in for the weekend of March 27 to 29, and there will be a second round the following week before a fortnight of hurling.
Once the two rounds are completed in both codes, the championships will take a back seat until there is enough room on the inter-county schedule to play another series of games.
The All-County League fixtures are expected to be announced shortly, with each team set to play six matches against the sides who are not in their championship groups.
