SAD PASSING

Deepest sympathy to Bridget Livingston­e and family, Carrigand Mary McDonald, Kilcaven on the death of their father Ned O’Grady, who passed away last Tuesday. He was waked at his home in Rospile last Wednesday, with removal on Thursday the 13th to Clongeen church for funeral Mass at midday. Burial afterwards in new cemetery Clongeen. May he rest in peace.

GAA CLUB NEWS

Bannow-Ballymitty, Kilmore and the Volunteers Award one Gaelic Football Course starts March 4 and continues for March 11, 18, 21 and 25. Venues to be confirmed depending on numbers. Any one interested contact Lar Whelan 087 6683924 as soon as possible.

Irish Scholarshi­p 2020: Anyone interested in putting their child forward for this please contact Jason Sinnott. Draw will be made of two kids from those entered to go forward to County Draw. Our draw will be held on Wednesday, February 26. Membership will need to be full paid at time of draw.

The following dates are when the registrati­on nights will be held in the complex in Grantstown: Wednesday, February 19; Tuesday, February 25; Thursday, February 27. Please come on one of these nights between 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. to register. Everyone, who registers on these nights will be entered into a draw to win a club gear bag.

Membership fees are as follows: Fee for first child €30, fee for additional children €25. Family membership: €100 for parents and any number of children. Full Adult Membership fee = €100. Student Membership fee (18 years and older) = €60. Social Membership = €50. A late payment fee of €5 will apply for all membership­s after March 31.

Lotto draw this Tuesday evening with a jackpot of €14,000 to be won. Tickets can be purchased from Doyle’s Carrig, Seabreeze Drycleaner­s, Costcutter­s Wallace’s Hardware, Tír na nÓg, Staffords Tullycanna and from any Club Officer over in the complex.

Nursery and under-seven Football training for 2020 commences next Tuesday, February 18, from six to seven in Grantstown Centre. The age groups are as follows: Nursery ~ born 2015 and 2016. Under-seven ~ Born 2013 and 2014. Both of these are for boys and girls. The under-eight girls will also be training with us on Tuesdays. Looing forward to seeing you there and don’t forget the Gumshields and €2 for the centre.

STRICTLY COME DANCING

Saturday, March 14, will be St Anne’s GAA Club’s Strictly Come Dancing semi-final Night this will take place in the Gymnasium in Bridgetown Vocational College where our 10 Couples will go head to head/toe to toe to qualify for the final, only five Couples go into the final. (Kilmore GAA Club’s semi-final Night is Friday, March 13) and final will be held on April 4.

There was no Snowball Winner last week in the St Anne’s GAA Club Weekly Bingo so the €1,000 snowball still stands. There’s an extra number each week so this week it’s up to 43 numbers. Weekly St Anne’s Bingo continues on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. in Rathangan Bar.

There will be a charity auction in Cleariesto­wn Community Centre on Sunday, February 23, starting at 2 p.m. On sale will be bric-à-brac, antiques and other items of interest including a reclining chair with footstool (as new), a mahogany chest of drawers, ercol style chairs, two sets of six high quality dining chairs, a circular kitchen table, a hall table, an electric chain saw, bedside lockers with lamps, antique kettle, bread pan and skillet pot, all star signed hurl by Dee and Darragh and many more interestin­g items.
