HOW OUR LEADERS ARE GETTING ON WITH TRAINING

-

NOEL KELLY

Despite the cold miserable weather, storms and corona-virus doing the rounds the last few weeks, it hasn’t dampened my spirits – training is still under way regardless.

Great craic is being had within the wolfpack when as many of us can make it to the training sessions and classes organised for us. We are a lucky bunch to have been given this wonderful opportunity.

We attended another Pilates class with Jane at Wexford Pilates Studio in the Bellefield GAA Complex where she demonstrated further stretches to us. This showed us how that when you take time out for yourself performing these stretches, your muscles and joints you can reap the rewards in training relieving many strains you can develop over time.

Jane also showed us an interesting bouncing exercise for helping to loosen out muscles, limbs and joints. I felt like a bit of an ape doing the bounce myself but I’d say with the right music playing you could really get your groove on with it.

Over the last three weeks I’ve taken part in some races around the county, Wexford Night Run 5k, Gorey NIght Run 5k, and Enniscorthy 10k hosted by Slaney Olympic AC. In each race, I can see where our training has paid off already by putting the techniques learned into practice, I feel stronger, more at ease and able to pace myself that bit better than before. If you haven’t done so yet, don’t forget to register #ifwedonothingnothingwillhappen

CARAGH DALY

Another few weeks have passed. It really is flying by. This week my back is sore. I had physio with Bryan and Julie Kirwan this morning and they sent me away with home work so I’m looking forward to feeling good again.

I just got a new job which involves a move to the next county the week of the race. I have decided to change to do the 10k now as my time will taken up by new job training, organising, moving and stress!!

Still having a lot of fun training with everyone and enjoying the running when it doesn’t hurt. Hope you are all enjoying it too.
