CLONGEEN NATIONAL SCHOOL

School Enrolment – Clongeen National School is now taking enrolments for September 2020. Enrolment forms are available from the school office or on the school website clongeenns. scoilnet.ie All enquiries are very welcome.

Clothes Recycling – We will have a clothes recycling collection day coming soon on Friday, March 20. All donations of clothes, shoes etc. can be left into the school beforehand or before 9.30 a.m. that morning. All your support would be greatly appreciate­d.

GAA REGISTRATI­ON NIGHT

The annual Coiste na nÓg registrati­on night will be held this Wednesday, March 11, in the clubhouse from 6.30 p.m. till 8 p.m.

GOOD FRIDAY TABLE QUIZ

On Friday, April 10, the Clongeen Community Developmen­t Group will host a monster table quiz in Clongeen hall. Teams of four are invited to take part at the cost of only €10 per person or it’s only €5 for a child. We look forward to seeing you all there, young and old.

OVER-35S SOCCER

If you want to get involved in playing over-35s, games usually take place on Saturday evening indoor in Grantstown at 6 p.m. So if you fancy coming along, please be there 15 minutes beforehand so we can kick off on time. Ramsgrange Horticultu­re Society held their AGM in the Wild Rose cafe in Duncannon last Wednesday. Officers elected for the coming year are as follows. Chair. : Rodney Brunt. COMMUNITY GAMES

The Community Games Committee is looking to set up an informatio­n only Whatsapp group for parents to let them know when events are on. Please text name and numbers to Geraldine O’Brien (087 7743205) if you want your number to be added. This will be an admin only group. The committee is looking to enter the following events, all subject to volunteers.

Swimming – Contact Sinéad McCarthy; Art under-eight to under-16; Handwritin­g under-10/ under-12; Project under-11/13 (team event); Model Making under-10 to under-16; Handball under-13/under-16; table quiz (under-14).

Talent (music, dance, singing, Irish Dancing) for all details check out communityg­ames.ie this will give you all age groups and rules.

We need to know interest in the above events for us to enter them with the County Community Games Committee. Committee Members are Geraldine O’Brien, Anne Kent, Sinéad McCarthy, Rita Gaffney, Emma Mooney, and Aisling O’Brien.

TERRERATH CHURCH CONCERT

The Terrerath Church Concert is to be held on Friday, March 20, at 8 p.m. A fantastic night featuring the following acts, HFC Brass Band, New Ross FCA Pipe Band, and Cairdeas Cheoil. Singers on the night are Hayley Crosbie, Tony Aspel, Martin Ryan, Mooney sisters on flute, and Noel Dunne. Tickets are €5 and on sale now.

TERRERATH HALL

Bingo every Wednesday night at 8 p.m., we would appreciate all support and all are welcome. Every Monday night, our new yoga classes have commenced in the community centre from 7.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Open to both male and female. Friday nights: Irish dancing, and Thursdays – Slimming World. The local soccer club also has training sessions from five years upwards. The Hall Committee appreciate­s everyone using the facilities and helps the upkeep of the hall.

CLOTHES BAG COLLECTION

Terrerath Community Centre are holding a clothes collection in the next couple of months, anyone who has unwanted clothes (shoes, bags, etc) no duvets, pillows or underwear. We would love everyone to support this cause in aid of NCBI (which supports people with sight loss).

SPLIT-THE-POT

Please remember split-the-pot is drawn each Sunday following 11 a.m. Mass in St Mary’s Church, Cushinstow­n. Tickets for the split-the-pot is available locally at €2 each.

FR. NICKY POWER

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Very Rev Nicholas Canon (Fr Nicky) Power. He ministered as a CC in Horeswood, New Ross, Gorey and lastly, as a PP in Duncannon, from 1977 till his retirement in September, 1997.

He will be sadly missed by Paddy and Jos (where he resided), his other nephews Tony, Jim, Nick, Vincent, Pádraig and nieces Pauline, Christina and Mary, sister-in-law Joan, grandnephe­ws, grandniece­s, great-grandniece­s and great-grandnephe­ws, nephews and nieces-in-law, Bishop Denis Brennan and all his fellow priests of the diocese of Ferns, relatives and friends.

Following Requiem Mass on Friday last, he was laid to rest in the New Cemetery in his beloved Duncannon, looking out over the sea which he loved so much. May he rest in peace. Amen.

ST JAMES’ GAA LOTTO

There was no winner of the €14,000 jackpot in last Tuesdays draw. The winning numbers were 2, 10, 23, and 32. St James’ Club had no match-three winner. The jackpot for the next draw, on March 18, will be €14,000 (reserve jackpot €6,500).

ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

Duncannon Village Renewal will be hosting this year’s St Patrick’s Day parade on Tuesday, March 17. The parade will kick off at 3 p.m. from ‘Our Lady, Star of the Sea Church in Duncannon, heading down the main street and finishing up on the beach. COCKLESHEL­L ART ROOM

We are delighted to be starting our 2020 season on St Patrick’s weekend. From Friday, March 13, till Tuesday, March 17, inclusive, we will open each day from 11 a.m. till 5 p.m. In this exhibition we will have works by: Eileen Cloney, Seán Curran, Maeve Doherty, Maria Dowling, Verona Goff (Pebble Art), Ethna Horan, Rachel Smith, Veronika Kladnakova, and Helen Molyneaux.

COLLECTION

Wexford Mental Health Associatio­n has arranged a church gate collection for New Ross Rural Area to take place this year over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, March 28/29. (Garda Permit No: WE 009/19). Your support will be very welcome and much appreciate­d. Thank you.

StLeonards CARDS

Winners of the cards in St Leonards hall last week were; John Sinnott, Dave Murphy and Andy Reville. Second place went to Dave Walsh, James McDonald and Mai Dunning. Larry Larkin, Brendan Colfer and Siobhán Doyle took third prize. The last game draw winners were Seán Colfer, Johnny Flynn and Nick Doyle.

The lucky raffle winners on the night were, Tom Culleton, Michael Murphy, Larry Power and Kathleen Cadogan.

The cards continue every Saturday night at 8.30 p.m.

CAR BOOT SALE

The St Leonards car boot sale will take place on Tuesday next St Patrick’s Day. Gates open at 7 a.m.

There was jackpot winner in the Tintern lotto draw last week. Siobhán Bowe, Campile and Mattie O’Grady, Ballyculla­ne matched three numbers and each received €100. The numbers drawn were 5, 12, 15 and 23. Next week’s jackpot will be €14,450 and next week’s matchthree winners will share €200.
