World award for Wexford company

-

ARTISAN food producers Wexford Home Preserves has been awarded a coveted gold award for its handmade Ave Maria Seville Orange Marmalade in the 2020 World Marmalade Awards and has made a donation to New Ross Meals on Wheels to celebrate.

The prestigious Dalemain World Marmalade Awards received 3,000 entries this year from 42 countries. According to the organisers: ‘ The quality of entries has never been higher and the winners are to be hugely congratulated for their skill, talent and inventiveness.’

Wexford Home Preserves were due to travel to Penrith, Cumbria, to be presented with their award at the weekend but decided against travelling due to the coronavirus crisis. Tom and Laura Sinnott had been trying for five years to win the gold award, so this decision was extremely painful, but the only responsible one.

The small family business based in New Ross makes great efforts to make world-class marmalades, as well as other preserves, in their batch kitchen. The oranges used for their gold award-winning Seville marmalade are organic and sourced from the Avé Maria family citrus farm in Seville. Wexford Home Preserves has been able to continue production as normal to date, while monitoring and implementing the advice provided by Government, the HSE, the World Health Organisation and other relevant authorities.

Every person involved in the making of Wexford Home Preserves’ products strictly follows meticulous hygiene and quality process regulations to ensure the safety of all. The company also won a slew of other awards in the competition.
