Cuckoo’s Corner managed one last charitable act before lockdown

-

BEFORE becoming one of countless pubs across the county forced to close their doors due to the Covid-19 outbreak, staff and customers at The Cuckoo’s Corner in Taghmon managed one last charitable act as they handed over a cheque for a whopping €4,020 to the Children’s Medical and Research Foundation (CMRF) at Crumlin Children’s Hospital.

The money was raised through a number of events over the festive period, the first being the huge Christmas raffle which brought in €1,000 in itself. The balance was provided via a major event on the premises which saw music provided by Back Again and John Delaney, all planned and co-ordinated by Tony Jeffers. There was a great atmosphere on the night and the local community really rallied behind the cause.

The staff and management of The Cuckoo’s Corner wished to thank all customers and friends that helped to raise the impressive figure, with a special thank you to everyone who donated or sponsored prizes and gave their time.

Prior to Covid-19 measures imposed by the government,

Cathal McCobb from CMRF arrived to take collection of the cheque and was joined by a young lady close to the hearts of everyone in the community - Anna Barrett. Anna has been receiving treatment from Crumlin Children’s Hospital for a number of years. Cathal was extremely grateful to everyone involved for the generous donation and said it will be put to extremely good use at the hospital.

The Cuckoo’s Corner look forward to welcoming customers and friends back when our current situation is all over.
