Businessespraised forreactionto Covid-19measures

-

WHILE we’re living in difficult and uncertain times, Sinn Féin councillor Tom Forde has praised Co Wexford companies and their management teams for the important roles that they’re playing in adapting to deal with new challenges and to keep the supply chain moving during the Covid-19 pandemic.

‘ These are unprecedented times for everyone, but also for local companies and their staff that now have to deal with many new challenges, not covered by previous training or past experiences,’ he said. ‘ Teams across a wide variety of Wexford businesses are thinking on their feet and creating new and innovative ways to adhere to the HSE guidelines regarding social distancing and personal hygiene in the workplace.’

Cllr Forde also stated, however, that he had fielded some calls from concerned employees in some of the businesses deemed an essential service. He says he has raised these concerns with the relevant companies, who for the most part were willing to engage and discuss the measures put in place with the hope of offering renewed assurances to workers.

‘It is clear that many employers are doing all that they can to adjust to a new way of life while also providing essential services,’ said Cllr Forde. ‘It is a challenging time for employers, some of whom are struggling with reduced revenue streams while trying to organise new operational challenges that use up valuable man-hours. The role of some of our local companies is essential and they have to be commended.’
